A robust renovation of the India Pale Ale. Assertive dry-hoppying provides an aromatic telltale nose, indicative of the bitter symphony to follow. Bold hop character with lively grapefruit and citrus notes. 20° Plato, Alc. 9.4% by Vol.

On tap at The Beer Engine. Pours slightly hazy amber with a half finger beige head. The nose is caramel, sweet citrus and toffee. The taste is earthy hops, caramel malt, grapefruit and some resin in the finish. Medium bodied. Not bad.

Pours a transparent orange amber with a thin, wispy lacing white head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramel malts and a hint of light fruity notes with a good fresh grapefruity hoppy nose. Starts with good fullness and fine carbonation with plenty of caramel malty sweetness and a good hop balance before a bittersweet slightly drier finish. A pretty good malt-heavy IIPA.

Big beer. Sorta harsh alcohol flavor at first which I think might have fried my palate. Seemed to get considerably smoother and piney as things went along. Would like to try again.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2011 Medium orange, good head, nice lace, mostly clear. Aroma is gummy malts and citrus hops, grapefruit, some pine. Flavor is gummy malts, an odd tea hop flavor, followed by a pine accented finish. Tea accented hops unfortunately dominate. Almost like the "lively grapefruit and citrus notes" had faded and gone off a bit, resulting in this. Not bad, but not great. Another RERATE from Richmond 16th. Frighteningly enough, the numbers were the exact same. So were the comments, although I felt the hops had more of a floral tone than citric this time around.

Bomber pours a mostly clear orange amber body with a two finger beige head. Aroma is grassy hops and grapefruit. Taste has a dominant grassy and leafy hop bitterness. Subtle caramel maltiness struggles to balance. The hop profile is so grassy it ventures into cat urine territory, a trait I’ve previously noticed only in Bells Hopslam. Alcohol remains well hidden throughout. A topnotch DIPA.
