3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2011 Medium orange, good head, nice lace, mostly clear. Aroma is gummy malts and citrus hops, grapefruit, some pine. Flavor is gummy malts, an odd tea hop flavor, followed by a pine accented finish. Tea accented hops unfortunately dominate. Almost like the "lively grapefruit and citrus notes" had faded and gone off a bit, resulting in this. Not bad, but not great. Another RERATE from Richmond 16th. Frighteningly enough, the numbers were the exact same. So were the comments, although I felt the hops had more of a floral tone than citric this time around.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber pours a mostly clear orange amber body with a two finger beige head. Aroma is grassy hops and grapefruit. Taste has a dominant grassy and leafy hop bitterness. Subtle caramel maltiness struggles to balance. The hop profile is so grassy it ventures into cat urine territory, a trait Iíve previously noticed only in Bells Hopslam. Alcohol remains well hidden throughout. A topnotch DIPA.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle courtesy of blutt59. Clear orange gold pour. Fair amount of head. Fat hop profile, fresh and lively. Some musty hops but for the most part well mixed. Sweet and sour hops. Taste provides for a hopped spice feeling. Decent with a tingly dry taste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to blutt59. Pours with a hazed golden body and a small white head. Aroma of pine, tangerine and orange. Taste is pine, caramel and orange. Alcohol is well hidden, and I didnít realize this was an IIPA when drinking it, so it has a decent amount of drinkability on that part. Light carbonation.

Nose is a mixture of grapefruit, citrus, caramel, and some toffee. Golden amber, nice head, some lace. Fruity upfront. Some apricot, sweeter oranges. Caramel, citrus hops round it out. Some lingering citrus hops in the finish. Good carbonation, solid drinkability.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Typical color for an IIPA...how many ways are there to type orange-ish/copper color? nice lacing sticks to the side of the glass very well. aroma is equal parts caramel malt and grapefruit citrus. alcohol is apparent in the nose, but not overpowering. I would say the flavor is as well-balanced as the aroma betweens the malts and hops. Finishes with a decent citrusy bitterness. Aftertaste is a little bit earthy.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draught during New Hollandís special tapping ƒ:30) at Great Taste of Midwest 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy orange amber colored brew with a nice off-white head that leaves behind some great lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and tangerine zest, just barely any caramel malt and some grassy hops. Taste is full bodied, flavors of citrus, grapefruit and sweet apricots with a touch of caramel malt. Finish has a strong alcohol presence with more lingering grapefruit and hop character. Itís a hop bomb overall with some fruit profile.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at RFDs in D.C. Pours a deep hazy orange color with a thick whitehead. Aroma is huge hops. Grapefruit, citrus, just a hint of malt. Delicious hop nose. Flavor was a little muddied. Not quite the sharp hops notes I was expecting. A little sweet, a little malty with more of a huop undercurrent.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 25, 2012 Sampled on tap at Brixieís 75th anniversary beer tasting in Brookfield, IL., and again at Lunar Brewing Co.. Poured to a fluted fest glass, and later, a rock glass, an orange/ amber tone with a modest off white head and spotty lacing. The aroma was heavy citrus and resin smoothed by complementary malt. The flavor showed a good deal of malt sweetness, a touch of caramel, and strong, hop bitterness. Have always been a fan of the Mad Hatter, and now itís big brother.
