A robust renovation of the India Pale Ale. Assertive dry-hoppying provides an aromatic telltale nose, indicative of the bitter symphony to follow. Bold hop character with lively grapefruit and citrus notes. 20° Plato, Alc. 9.4% by Vol.

Pours a deep, intense copper with a moderate head. Lacing is about average, very foamy. Aroma very hoppy, citrus and grassy with a faint whiff of alcohol. Very assertive on the tongue, not intensely bitter but robust enough. Faint sweetness. Thinnish mouthfeel. Finishes bitter; there’s not enough malt smooth out the aftertaste. Decent IIPA but it doesn’t give me the same warm and fuzzy feeling as others in the style.

Bomber from Cardinal Liquors in Mokena. Pours hazy dark orange with small white head. Aromas of hops, citrus, grapefruit, sweet malts, and tropical fruits. Flavors of bitter hops, grapefruit, citrus, sweet caramel malts. Finishes with sweet malts. Usually prefer total hop bombs over sweet malty DIPA but this one is hitting the spot right now. Good stuff.

Bottle: The aroma has lots of sweet citrus notes, grapefruit, light fruit, and just a hint of caramel. It pours a transparent dark amber with a half inch orange tinged off-white head that fades to a soapy film after a minute or so. The head leaves some spotty dotted lacing behind. The flavor starts lightly sweet with just a hint of caramel. There’s a very mild fruitiness in the background. The finish is loaded with citrus hops, lighter pine notes, some spiciness, and a hint of alcohol. As it warms, the fruitiness intensifies in the nose and the caramel flavors become more apparent, but never surpass all the hops. It’s full bodied and the mouthfeel is somewhat oily and sticky.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, caramel, and hops. Poured copper/amber in color with a small, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout around the edges and as a film on top of the beer. Hazy. Very slightly sparkling. Some small particles throughout. Flavor is heavily bitter and lightly sweet. Tastes of hops, caramel, malt, resin, slight pine, and some wood. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, hops, malt, slight caramel, and resin. 9.4%ABV is completely hidden throughout. Likely and older bottle. I will have to try it again when it is fresh.

Bottle. Poured a nice looking body with thin head. Aroma is malty and I found the sweet citrus hoppy aroma to be lacking and overall in the taste.

Bottle. 25.4 oz. Split with James. Pours shiny, cloudy amber-orange with a thick, two-finger white head. Nose is powerful and sweet; vanilla, barley, dry hops, caramel, honey, and citrus. Awesomely crisp, yet still deliciously smooth palate and a nice moderate body. Finish is clean, tasty, and refreshing. Excellent Imperial IPA.
