Schroppfy (1733), Ohio, USA Aug 5, 2002 I give it great palate ratings because of the smooth, slippery, richer than expected mouthfeel. I don’t get the maltiness others have mentioned...a bit, but not the balance I was hoping for. Nevertheless, it could well be the best amber in Michigan austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA May 24, 2002 A bit bitter. Otherwise, decent. I have never felt that New Holland has the edge on Bell’s. hennes (932), Fountain, Michigan, USA May 2, 2002 OK, I finally found the perfect setting for drinking this beer - sunny balcony, brats on the grill, a couple of guitars, Tigers on the radio, and spring leaping greenly around you. The worst that can be said of this beer is that its nice flavours - peppery spices, nice dry hops, touch of caramel - are muddied and subdued in the final mix. They invite the Bells comparison that others have noted with their description, which is gutsy, but I think they come off very well. tourette (183), San Francisco, California, USA Feb 11, 2002 A most enjoyable Amber. I really like it. It has a bit of a hoppiness that suits it just right. bubslang (435), Kentwood, Michigan, USA Feb 4, 2002 not a big Amber fan, but this one is very good, one of the best ambers i’ve had. Had nice robust flavor that is lacking in other ambers, and also was not sickenly sweet
