Bottle. Pours a black opaque color with a tan head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruit and bit of coffee. Taste of coffee, roasted malt, dark fruit and some chocolate. Solid bitterness that lingers into a dry finish. full body, thick and quite creamy, has a bit of a boozy feel, but still is an enjoyable beer.

"Got a good reason for taking the easy way out." Oh wait, thatís from Day Tripper by The Beatles. Ah well. Even though theyíre divided by night and day, I still like the parallel. Underneath its clean-cut happy-go-lucky surface layer, Day Tripper was about sex and drugs. Night Tripper is like that. Its pitch black body is dangerously smooth and drinkable. The rich malts showcase chocolate, cream, roasted barley, and a hint of anise. At 10.8%, itíll deviously trick you into thinking this is a much lighter beer than it is. Sometimes mischief is more fun when itís hidden.

Bottle to tulip. Jet black with an average beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is cocoa, dark roasted malts, and vanilla. Flavor is dark chocolate, creamy milk chocolate, vanilla, a little coffee, and hints of tobacco. Thick and creamy with a dry finish. Alcohol is invisible, there is no way that I would guess it is 11.5% Excellent beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Vintage 2016. 11.5% ABV per the label. Pours a thick, well retained beige head, with extensive lacing, over a clear, brownish black (SRM 35) body.......nose is heavy roasted malts, with chocolate, light coffee notes, heavy dried fruits with plum, fig, dried cherry notes, light herbal hops, balance to the malts......taste is moderately sweet with brown sugar, light molasses, toffee/caramel notes, dried fruits including plum, fig, cherry, later hints of umami, finishing almost dry with light herbal hop bitterness, balance to the malts......mouth feel, heavy, sticky body, alcohol warmth present, carbonation makes for creaminess. This is a tiny bit on the sweet side of the style, but is otherwise nicely complex in both aroma and flavor, and is easy drinking despite the overall richness. BJCP 9/3/16/4/8

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle with $8.99 price tag, I think approaching 2 years old aged at basement temperature. Black, somewhat syrupy pour; tan head. Nose shows chocolate, roast, raisin, and something a little astringent in there as it warmed (alcohol, I suppose, but sharper). Flavor sweet, caramel, chocolate, roast, alcohol. Medium-full body, too sticky for me to love. Too much alcohol character to be world-class, for sure. Decent though.

1pt 6fl oz bottle. Vintage year 2013. You have to love that first giant stout of the year when the weather is finally cold enough to want such a thing. In the cellar since September of 2013. Pours black out of the bottle with an audible "glug" and leaves a one finger beige head. On the nose, big raisin notes, molasses, butterscotch, dark chocolate, dark rum, and brandy. I guess what Iím trying to say is, it smells incredible. Full bodied with the sweetness you would expect from an imperial stout with again raisin up front, molasses, coffee, light earthiness, light caramel and espresso that leads into huge roasty malt notes, light ash, espresso with a very long finish that kind of diminishes into strong dark roast coffee notes. A repeat buy for sure.
