4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Black-hole black, viscous looking with a big, creamy tan head that slowly grows into a crown. Aroma is full of heavy, dark chocolate fudge, roasted malt, hints of coffee grounds, & a touch of fusel alcohol. Moreover, though, the strongest aroma is the dense, bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is no different in that regard. Huge fudge cake flavor profile with an inherent sweetness that’s balanced nicely by an onset of moderately bitter, roasted malt & warming booze. The palate shows more complexity with notes of dark prune, burnt coffee beans, faint char, & charred brown sugar. But my mind keeps coming back to that lovely fudge cake flavor. It has a strong alcohol presence at 10.8%, but never gets too overbearing or undrinkable... It just commands patience. One of the best mouth feels on a beer that I can recall. So goddamn thick, chewy, viscous; just HUGE on the palate. Ten FIDY & Marshal Z territory. I am still convinced that this is the best beer New Holland does, or will ever brew. Don’t pass this one up. Awesome.

A ton of booze makes this come on way too strong. Some roast and dark chocolate, but it doesn’t hang together very well. Bittersweet finish. Tap at Black Squirrel.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle shared from Joe. Pours black, with a small, tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, caramel, molasses, cinnamon, oak, sherry, and earth. Very sweet, with very minimal roasted bitterness. Heavy body, smooth, syrupy, and thick. Overall, this is a flavorful and complex stout. More here than just the standard coffee and burnt toast. Smooth and delicious.

Black with a dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate and coffee, hints of dark fruit. Taste is the same. Super nuanced. Flavors come and go and come again. Full bodied. A big surprise of a beer!

A very strong tasting imperial stout that killed my tastebuds on the end! Starts off very smooth and tasty, but turned me away on the alcohol finish!

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark brown with a slight brown head that lasts a while. Aroma is dominated by chocolate, and there is also some malts. Flavor is sweet chocolate and a bite of alcohol. Not a terribly complex imperial stout, but it is very flavorful - what it does it does very well. Delicious.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A nice imperial. Dark chocolate brown pour. Thin fizzy off-white head that dissipates quickly. Liquorice, coffee, and booze in the nose. Nice imperial taste with strong malt flavors melding with background notes of liquorice, dark cherry, and a bit of booze. Warming with a bit of an alcohol finish.

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a nearly pitch black with a thin-dense brown head. The head had amazing retention with even over a 30 min period the head not dissipating completely. While not a complete fade it did lose some size to leave nice lacing on the side of the glass with a thin brown film left on the top of the brew.
Smell – The smell was heavy of cherry and chocolate. These were met with lighter notes of a roasted coffee and a good shot of boozy alcohol aroma.
Taste – The taste started out heavy of a sweeter chocolate and cherry flavors. This chocolate covered cherry had some nice bready maltiness mixed within. As the flavor advances some of the cherry faded, but never disappeared. As the cherry sweetness faded, some flavors of roasted malt, bitter chocolate coffee and a light nuttiness came to the tongue. These lasted to the end of the taste where they were met by a warming heavy boozy taste of alcohol. In the end, a bitter, roasty , boozy flavor lingered on the tongue in a satisfying way.
Mouthfeel – The body was nice and creamy with a lower level of carbonation. With its robust darkness and 10.8 % it is very fitting, and allows all the roasty, cocoa and boozy flavors to linger on the tongue.
Overall – A nice cocoa warming stout; very tasty and enjoyable to drink.

It pours with a decent head. The aroma is of chocolate, vanilla. and cream. The glass has heavy lacing and the head is a rich brown. The color is black with no light that comes through the glass. The is a taste of rich chocolate, vanilla, cream, oak, with a creamy texture to it.
