Night Tripper is an Imperial Stout brewed for a Fat Tuesday release. Dark, mysterious and poetic, Night Tripper's abundance of roasted malts, combined with flaked barley create a rich, roasty beer with deeply intense and lush flavors. Night Tripper's layered, nuanced tones invite intrigue and reward a curious palate.

The appearance is foamy, sticky, and very dark in color. The aroma is robust, full of roasted malts, oak, weak sweet malts, spices, dark chocolate, and there is a complexity here. The flavor is of dark sweet malts, mild bitter chocolate, medium level of pepper taste, booze, and dark fruit. My palate was not impacted as much as I anticipated. The finish was pleasant. The flavor was not tarnished by too much booze and bitterness. Overall a very good drink.

Very smooth and silky. No distinct flavors that are big, well balanced. Would have liked a more IBU.

2012 Vintage.
Appearance: The body is pitch black, but there is almost no head at all even during a hard pour. Only a very thin coating appears.
Aroma: The aroma is strong of sweet milk chocolate with a light dark fruits backing. Roasted malts are subdued, perhaps a touch here.
Taste: The intro is very mild but the mid-taste is strong with dark chocolate backed by roasted malts and dark fruits. The roasted malts and dark chocolate linger a bit and warming alcohol creeps up after the finish.
Palate: Thick and creamy with light carbonation.
Overall: I wouldn’t mind revisiting this fresh, it’s certainly good enough to try again, though without the potential hints of oxidation that may be present in the form of dark fruits.

(750ml bottle 2013 vintage) deep espresso brown, creamy lasting soapy medium tan bubbles that coat the glass. Nose of chocolate cake, toasty raisin, very complex. Taste of alcohol, chocolate cake, rum soaked raisins, bitter semisweet chocolate, oats, medium thick body. Neat beer. Bit too much alcohol dominant in the taste of this one.

22 oz. bottle, pours near-black with an amber tinge and a small tan head. Aroma of deep dark fruits, roasted malt and some wood. Flavour brings out roasted malt, deep dark fruits, and some wood. Very soft on the palate, with a deep dark fruit and soft roasted malt on the finish. Great stuff.

Bomber - poured black with a small head. Had a malty bourbon taste to it. Somewhat thin on the mouthfeel. Decent.

Black with a thin tan head. Aroma is chocolate. Flavor is strong chocolate with an overly sweet finish. Rich and especially suited to dessert but a touch one note. A little aggressive in the alcohol sweetness with some bitterness from the hops. Not bad, but a little bitter up front and a little overly sweet in the finish. Wife: 3.25

Draft. Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is semi sweet chocolate, roasted coffees. Taste is burny coffee rinds, chocolate with some dark fruit underliners. Palate is full, rich with a lingering char and medium sweetness. Very nice. Lovely sipper.

Bomber shared by Nick... Thanks! Aroma is subdued.... inert as a fellow beer geek described it. Pours a jet black with a small mocha head. Taste is again slightly inert... Can get a little chocolate and dark fruits, a little alcohol. Body is good, what I would expect from an imperial stout. Decent offering.

Bomber thanks to ZMDR1975. Ink black pour into a snifter. Amazing aroma of dark fruit, chocolate, candy and booze. Very mellow upfront. Complex mix of rasins, dark chocolate and black licorice. Sweet finish with a bit of heat from the 10.8 abv. Rich & robust like an Impy should be. I would definately seek this out again.
