BückDich (4559), Boise, Idaho, USA May 6, 2008 Bottle: Black with a nice tan head. Nose of light soy, vegetal roast, plums and alcohol, some modest american hops. The flavor is balanced, sweet, acidic and astringent in just the right amounts. Strong alcohol tail. Not overly complex but it’s got a solid body and malt background. Yummy molasses and vanilla notes. Good Impy!
Two_Dudes (30), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 7, 2008 Enoyed this very much. Thanks to Joel from New Holland for the sample. An Imperial Stout that wasn’t oak-aged. Sort of a novelty at this point. Nice caramel head that lingers. Mouthfeel is big, but smooth. Palate is a dusty cocoa that just begs to be shared with some sort of dessert. Very nice beer. Darkover (1217), Columbus, Ohio, USA Sep 30, 2008 Very dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits and some alcohol. Flavor of sweet roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark fruits and liqour. drfabulous (746), Columbia, Missouri, USA Sep 30, 2008 It’s been sitting in my basement longer than I thought it would. The forgotten beer. A cool night. Time to finally open it. Pours without any head (reminds me of Expedition). But there is lots of coffee and roasty taste here. Very nice overall. Balanced. Rich. I get that burnt sugar taste someone else here notes. Nice. Theis (2212), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 30, 2008 Bottle at home - thanks to Bager. Black - brown head. High burned, berries, fruity, oily, chocolate, coffee, nice medium hoppy, smooth hoppy. Lovely. marcus (1058), Sacramento, California, USA Sep 21, 2008 This dark brown ale poured with a thin tan head- just a few bubbles, and a very agreeable sweet aroma. There is an intense earthy roasted malt flavor.
