I really like the woody aroma. The taste has a caramel sweetness that pairs well with the fruity notes of the hops. The finish is smooth with plenty of oaken burnt sugar... Overall, very nice...

Bomber. Nose deep, heavy caramel with no toffee but a lot of wood -- pine and oak in roughly equal proportion. Pours deep, dark amber (still transparent) with a large and foamy beige head. Light0medium body, dry and stripped of just about all flavor save for the oak barrel and resinous hops -- very much in the style of a West Coaster -- no redemptive malt character, despite the presence of flat caramel, but there are some slight herbal and woodsy touches when the dulled boozes recedes for a moment. Warms the throat and chest, but ever so gently, that we don’t mind. There is a roundness, a smoothness here that relieves us of the need for the crisp and refreshing bent of the modern IPA (really a nice sipper in the classic sense, with the depth of a good Old Ale), and yet, for all the lovely traditional, cask-loving memories that haunt this bottle, there isn’t quite enough soul to necessitate another.

Bomber. Oaky aroma with floral hops as well as a bit of bourbon. Pours copper colored with a good soapy off white head with good retention and lacing. Good oak flavor with a bit of bourbon-like flavor with smooth mouthfeel. Finishes dry with a good floral hop flavor with a slightly bitter bite. Excellent barrel aged ipa with great balance of hop and malt!

A well made barrel aged IPA. There is a good blend of the hops and floral notes with the woody piece from the barrel. Keeps both the hops and oaky notes on a solid level.

Poured from a 22oz bomber. No date on the bottle - but it is vintage 2014. Aroma - Can definitely smell the oakiness. Dark fruits too. Appearance - very clear golden color with lots of bubbles coming up. Smell 1/4 finger of head. Taste - Very smooth tasty beer. Great bite at the end of my mouth. Palate - Nice mouth feel. Overall - Pretty pleased with this. I think if it were to age I wouldn’t like it as much.

Clear brilliant deep copper under a thin foamy white head. Brilliant nose of citrusy hop depth, some floral hop resins, a touch of dry grassy hops and a brilliant fresh nose about it all, mixed with coconut and vanilla oak tannins with a little toffee sweetness underneath. The oak tannins themselves show through a little too sharply on the flavor, but its backed by piney floral hop resins and a residual grapefruity zesty twang. Deep and nuanced with complex hop notes that arent easy to pin down, with a clever oakiness featuring wood and coconut tones.

Bottle: Vibrant, lighter amber with some bright orange around the edges, semi-clear & topped with a slightly chunky eggshell cap. Aroma is loaded with spicy oak, tannins, mild floral hints, botanical water, white pepper, & some mild ashy notes (not sure if they’re from the hops or the oak). Taste transcribes to a semi-abrasive heat on the palate; lots & lots of spicy oak, earthy & ashy hops, stinging floral notes, & tree bark with a mild bitterness. Hint of citrus peel, maybe? But the heaviest component in this beer is wood, in both aroma & flavor. Not bourbon. Not hops. Spicy oak. Not bad, mainly because I do enjoy the smell of fresh wood, but it’s a little over the top here.

Pours slightly cloudy amber, small white head. Aroma is mildly oaky and malty, little hop note. This IPA has a good balanced taste. Recommended.

On tap at Kalamazoo Beer Exchange. Pours a deep, clear, amber with a half finger, off white head that laces. Aroma has big notes of resin, pine, and some smooth barrel. Taste is bitter but a touch sweet. Pine, citrus, resin, grapefruit, and bourbon barrel at the end. Pretty tasty. Medium body and carbonation. A bit resiny in the mouth with a dry finish. Overall tasty. Lots of American IPA flavours paired with smooth barrel notes.

Pours an amber-brown with a white head. Definitely some wood notes at the nose along with some citrus. Taste isn’t very bitter. Mouth feel is fairly wet with a dry finish. A little different for an IPA in terms of the woody vibe.
