Wishing there was more to this one. nice color...but thats about it. Very light and no flavor. Get the hop kick....but not much else and a little barrel.

2014 bomber. Thanks Shawn! pours a deep clear copper with a medium to smallish beige head. Aroma is citrusy hops. Hint of oak. Taste is hoppy and bitter, but the oak barrel aging mellows it a bit. Nice long pleasant bitter finish and linger. Good beer!

Vintage 2013. 500ml bottle, foil wrapped. Light brown/copper color. Tan head. Aroma of wood, old oak, cooked sugars, toasted malts, & hops. Vanilla as it warms. Tastes is of bold sugary malts, bitter hops, harsh oak tannins. Lingering flavor of oak tannin bitterness lasts to the end of this beer. This beer tastes like what the liquid of a juiced piece of oak would-be. (4112)

Firkin at Hop Cat. Soft pale blonde pour with one finger of white head. Floral aroma with some sweet citrus and sharp oak. Very floral sweet character in the flavor with the oak playing a nice supporting role. Medium light body witha soft carbonation.

Draft at Hopcat GR - cask - pours a medium orange . Floral aroma with a faint oak note . Taste is a bit of woody vanilla mixed with some herbal hops . Probably my fav of the Hatter series . ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 oz bottle. The pour is a dark clear copper with a thick white head and some moderate clingy lacing. The aroma has a little bit of vanilla up front, and then quickly fades through a dark malt character. There is a light bitterness on the backend, but there is not much of a hop character at all. The flavor presents a little bit of a woody vanilla on the front end, and moves through a nice malt profile with just a touch of bitterness from an underperforming hop presence. The mouth feel is a little thin, but there is a nice carbonation, and the aftertaste is a little lingering and nicely bitter without a resounding hoppiness and resin ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ten minutes after rating this beer I was reminded of the alpha king by FFF and decided to increase my ratin for taste and aroma
2013 vintage bomber into le Listermann shaker from Starkbier Fest - nose is pre brewed hops, heavy on the tart citrus. Sips adds slight bourbon and something that made say oh, in the same way one does when seeing an accident and itís almost certain someone got hurt. Berry hoppy but not that bitter. I like the BA aspect but it doesnít work with this beer. Little taste overall. Light to medium body. Never again.

22 ounce bottle, Giant Eagle Market District, Dublin, OH; $5.99. Lovely reddish-orange-golden color; ilghtly hazy; creamy one-finger head; medium lacing. Aroma floral and fruity, apple/pear, caramel, oak. Flavor is maybe just a touch overly sharply bitter but I could definitely get used to it; the fruity/floral thing is overshadowed by the hop bite, unfortunately; but the oak remains strong through the slightly dry finish. Heavy carbonation is halfway between coarse and silky; medium mouthfeel just the tiniest bit oily. Really nice beer and possibly underrated.

Not what I thought I was getting, ipa isnt quite the right style, darker less hops and very smooth, something just doesnt click right with this beer

22 oz bottle for 6 bucks. Pours dark copper with a white head. Looks more like a Barleywine than an IPA to me. Aroma is caramel, oak and a little hops. Taste is vanilla up front with to caramel, oak and a little smoke on the back end. Medium body with a nice creamy mouthfeel as well. Iím not quite sure how this fits into the IPA mold. It lacks the typical hoppy characteristics that most IPAs have, but itís still quite a good beer. Iíd be interested in a higher ABV version. A nice, easy-drinking iPA.
