Bomber, pours dark clear orange, with half-finger white head. Nose is juicy, with citrusy, piney hops up front, the wood notes slipping through as it warms. Hint of vanilla. Lively mouthfeel accentuates the orange/lemon hop combo. Subdued oak notes manifested in old vanilla. Solid, if somewhat uninspired.

New Holland Oak Aged Hatter, no additional aging, 7.12% ABV A 22oz bottle and poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance: Deep Amber and poured with a one inch thick head. Head slowly recedes to a ring while ample lacing is retained from the initial pour line. Smell: The nose hits you a foot from the glass; floral hops and vanilla with a hint alcohol get the mouth watering. Taste: Vanilla and toasted oak lead to a sweet caramel and bitter finish. Mouth feel: It has a full body and good carbonation, with a nice finish of alcohol warmth and lingering resin bitterness. Overall: Of the Mad Hatter variations, this is my favorite. The Kentucky oak barrel aging really adds another level of flavors to this solid American-style India Pale Ale. Drink it fresh. No need to age any further as New Holland has done it for you. I will always pick up a bottle when in stock at my local beverage retailers.

Pours hazy copper with white head. Aroma is citrus hops. Medium body with a smooth creamy texture. I think it a little old but it holds up well. Nice tasting caramel malt backbone with a slight amount of vanilla and roastyness. The barrel aging really works well in this one. Not terribly bitter but its got a little bite in the aftertaste. Some piney hops and a little citrus. Very good.

Hazy amber beer, small cream coloured head. A little crispy and dry. Bitter start! Bitter brett and bitter orange. This bitterness sits on a vanilla oak background. Finishes crisp with more bitterness. hangs together fine but easily the most bitter oak aged IPA I’ve had.

Aroma: frontal dry hop freshness followed by crystal malts , caramel with cola like barrel treatment.
Apperance: poured as amber with lighter mid-sized fine tanned creamy cap. 3-
Taste/Palate etc. full bodied with lighter sides. Leafy hop notes with bitter woody elements behind. Pleasant warmth followed. Some heat at end but not much. Top end noted by woody cola cask elements. Fairly smooth. Good choice for cold winter days.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of citrsuy hops, caramel malts, and a little oak. Flavor the same. Average to smooth texture. A decent IPA.

Bottle. Pours cloudy amber. Small white head. Strong lacing. Aroma of pine and grass. Medium bitter flavor. Its been awhile since I’ve had regular Mad Hatter, but maybe flavor is mutted a little by the oak aging. Definitely has a very dry finish. Decent beer, pretty tasty, but nothing to get excited about.

From notes: Poured clear orangey-amber with a 1-finger white head. Grapefruit hops aroma with a woody note beneath. Full-bodied with a slight thickness. Piney and grapefruity hops flavors up front with a nice, clean wood note beneath that comes forward in the finish. The wood becomes more prominent throughout as it warms.

Light red copper beer with almost no head. Fruity aroma. Thin bodied beer but balanced hoppyness and some caramel. Not bad.
