3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bought at Lemon Tree in July. It probably shouldn’t have been cellared this long, but let’s see. Pours a gentle hop nose. Amber to brown body, nice half-finger of eggshell foam. First sip is mild, but just a little more builds up on the Centennial hops. The malt gives the impression of starting toward phenol, but as of now, it’s just fine. A bit sweet on the tongue, but also a dry finish. Hops building in the aftertaste. Any oak impressions are around the edges, part of the aftertaste. The Mad Hatter with just a little something extra, yet excellent for a $5 bomber.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2 dec 2014, bottle. Orange and hazy. Nose is dry pine hops and dry wood. Thin/med body and faintly fizzy. There is a slightly sweet granila malt, some peaches and pine hops, but the dry wood flavor really dampens the whole beer. It's ok.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not a bad IPA, but I did not taste much of the oak aging, and so was disappointed. Pretty much just tasted like Hatter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
pours clear dark golden with a very nice off-white head, good retention and strong lacing. toasted maltiness, rye-like graininess with a caramel touch, fruitiness - oranges, apricots and berries, touch of coconut and other lo-fi barrel components, pepper, grass and bitter herbs. light carbonation, light to medium body - oily, balanced grassy-piney-spicy-woodsy-citrusy finish. slightly changes the original brew but does not necessarily improve it. still slightly above average ipa.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
651 ml. bottle. Vintage 2014. Pours a thick, well retained, tiny bubbled, ivory head, with extensive lacing, over a clear dark amber (SRM 15) body.....nose is light pine, resin, floral notes from the hops, light wood, light cereal.....taste is slightly sweet to start, with hints of toffee/caramel, light pine, resin notes, light wood tones, finishing with a soft hop bitterness.....mouth feel, medium body, slight alcohol warmth, carbonation adds tingle, and minimal acid. This is a very English IPA. The hops are lightly American, but were used with a relatively light hand making for a gentle bitterness, and relatively light hop aromas and flavors. The wood, while present was only slightly noticeable, and helped to moderate the hops. BJCP 7/3/14/4/6

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
I really like the woody aroma. The taste has a caramel sweetness that pairs well with the fruity notes of the hops. The finish is smooth with plenty of oaken burnt sugar... Overall, very nice...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Nose deep, heavy caramel with no toffee but a lot of wood -- pine and oak in roughly equal proportion. Pours deep, dark amber (still transparent) with a large and foamy beige head. Light0medium body, dry and stripped of just about all flavor save for the oak barrel and resinous hops -- very much in the style of a West Coaster -- no redemptive malt character, despite the presence of flat caramel, but there are some slight herbal and woodsy touches when the dulled boozes recedes for a moment. Warms the throat and chest, but ever so gently, that we don’t mind. There is a roundness, a smoothness here that relieves us of the need for the crisp and refreshing bent of the modern IPA (really a nice sipper in the classic sense, with the depth of a good Old Ale), and yet, for all the lovely traditional, cask-loving memories that haunt this bottle, there isn’t quite enough soul to necessitate another.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber. Oaky aroma with floral hops as well as a bit of bourbon. Pours copper colored with a good soapy off white head with good retention and lacing. Good oak flavor with a bit of bourbon-like flavor with smooth mouthfeel. Finishes dry with a good floral hop flavor with a slightly bitter bite. Excellent barrel aged ipa with great balance of hop and malt!
