Bottle. Poured clear dark copper color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy bourbon, dark fruit and sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark fruit sweet bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy sweet alcohol finish of moderate to long duration. This is a complex standout beer.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, fruit/raisin, vanilla, brown sugar, bourbon, and light oak. It pours a transparent dark copper with a small off-white head that eventually fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. There is some dotted lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy caramel, toasted brown sugar, fruit, and light raisin. The finish has molasses, vanilla, bourbon, and light wood. It’s full bodied with a rather sticky mouthfeel and mild carbonation.

Vintage 2012. Poured 12/25/13. Pours a hazy and deep amber color with a very thin white head. Aroma is sweet, syrupy, caramel, dark fruits (raisins), booze, vanilla, oak. Smells fantastic. Taste is big, sweet, boozey, vanilla, caramel, raisins, plums, figs (!) bourbon, just a little hot; finish is sweet dark fruits and burnt sugar. Warming. Thin lacing throughout. Mouth feel is full, chewy, but not coating. Medium-low carbonation. Not having been a fan of the standard release, this came as a delightful surprise. Really top notch.

Wow, picked this up on a whim, have not been following beer much lately. Just incredible. My brother’s wife just tweeted that Jeff was enjoying a Bourbon County Stout, my favorite. Had no idea that I had something in that neighborhood in the garage. My favorite beers always remind me of some scrumptious food. This one reminds me of a heavy, sticky, gooey pastry with caramelized dark sugars and malt, darkest blackberry, date and vanilla, drizzled in caramel, soaked in bourbon. Oh my.

So good and sooooo close to awesome. Pours a murky brown with no head. Aroma of oak, bourbon, caramel and dark fruit. Taste is caramel, bourbon oak, fig, and wood finish. This is where the rating went down a little.... had a little syrup thick body and no to minimal carbonation which hurt the mouth feel. Solo good though and close to Kuhnhenn fourth dementia, barrel aged, but still needs a little help.

Bottle: thanks, Jeff! Deep brown, caramel colored body with no head at all, only a very mild, beige collar. Looks thick. Aroma is very malty with notes of caramel, dark prunes, wood, light nuttiness, toast, boozy bourbon, & faint anise in the finish. A little harsh on the booze, but understandable. Taste is sticky, a little boozy & a little sweet. Notes of caramel, toffee, butterscotch, buttery toast, hints of creamy vanilla & raisins with a strong bourbon note in the finish. Oak adds some lingering astringency from the tannin. Nice stuff, a little boozy right now, perhaps.

12 oz bottle -- thanks, Jeff! Pours dark, clear amber with some off white head. Aroma: dark fruits, toffee, plums, caramel, some barrel - vanilla and pleasant oxidation. Taste: sweet; caramel, toffee, a hint of cherry. Just enough bitterness in the finish to provide balance. Well-placed oxidation. Palate: full, sticky body; nice warming alcohol in the finish. Overall: a really enjoyable sipper.

Bottle. Poured a gorgious copper mahogony color with one finger head. My goodness this aroma smell good and complex. Aroma of caramel goodness, raisins, dark fruits. Taste did not let me down. The nice warming alcohol balances out the sweet malty bombs. Medium to heavy body. Creamy texture. Nice bourbon oak barrel notes. A nice sipper. Let it warm some. Not for the faint-hearted. Please sir can I have another.

Great barrel flavor! Awesomely balanced, makes it simple to separate the barrel flavors from the wheatwine. Super drinkable for 12%, and a nice treat
