From tap. Deep ruby pour. Great scent of bourbon, caramel, and malt. Flavor is spectacular and sweet, without being overly so.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Medium brown pour. Fast fading light tan head. Fair lacing on the snifter.
Aroma is caramel malt, pineapple, bourbon, vanilla.
Flavor is rich caramel malt, bourbon, vanilla, oak, pineapple. Little to no hop flavor but the hops balance the sweetness quite well.
Mouthfeel is viscous, thick, coating. Enough carbonation to keep it from being cloying.
One of my all-time favorite ales. The bourbon barreled version is amazing. Not to be missed.

Great barrel flavor! Awesomely balanced, makes it simple to separate the barrel flavors from the wheatwine. Super drinkable for 12%, and a nice treat

Sampled from bottle @ ChrisO after GBBF day 3. Clear dark orange to red color, average sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is sweetish, dark fruits, raisins, quite strongly vanilla and bourbon. Taste malts, sweetish, raisins, lots of bourbon, lightly vanilla, wood. Full body, medium to full carbonation. Wow, very nice!

Plummy ruby amber with a thin sticky off white head. Lovely nose with some brown sugary plum tones, cinnamon raisin bread, and a kiss of wheat. Big wonderful flavor with lovely cinnamon raisin toast from the nose, gentle cereal and bourbon notes, and a kiss of cinnamon toast crunch children’s cereal on the finish. Actually, once it warms, that children’s cereal flavor gets bigger. With lovely raisin bread tones.

This was a suprise draft at a beerfest a while back. From notes. Bourbon dominates with caramel and fermented fruits right behind it. A little woody and vanilla in there too. Very solid beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured into a 16 oz. taster glass at about room temperature.
Aroma- Strong bourbon, oak, fruit, caramel, nut.
Appearance- Reddish brown with a little head and lacing at the top of glass.
Taste- Bourbon, dark fruit, caramel, vanilla.
Palate- Charred wood, bourbon, spice, plum/grape, subtle sweetness, with a dry finish.
Overall the beer is complex yet it was well balance. I thought it would be very boozy in taste with that strong bourbon aroma but the ingredients in the ale comes together quite well.

Wow, picked this up on a whim, have not been following beer much lately. Just incredible. My brother’s wife just tweeted that Jeff was enjoying a Bourbon County Stout, my favorite. Had no idea that I had something in that neighborhood in the garage. My favorite beers always remind me of some scrumptious food. This one reminds me of a heavy, sticky, gooey pastry with caramelized dark sugars and malt, darkest blackberry, date and vanilla, drizzled in caramel, soaked in bourbon. Oh my.
