Classical American Barley Wine without being stunningly interesting. 180807 biggenius29 (155), Hamilton, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2007 First taste is very sweet, hints of grain caramel and bread. It tasted sort of fruity, cherry and white wine notes. There is a soft oak aroma and taste. The alcohol is quite noticable, and had a alcohol aroma and slight burn. There is a sour taste that lingers in the back of the mouth. The body is very full and very creamy. There is no lacing and a very small head. adrian910ss (1395), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 18, 2007 22 oz bomber. Pours a clear amber color with a small white head. Handed this one off to my buddy Taylor after several sips. Not really doing it for me. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Aug 10, 2007 (22oz bottle) Crystal clear dark amber body topped by small beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, maple/caramel, some raisin, candied apple, tobacco. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, fig/raisin, maple. Light alcohol burn in the finish. Medium-full body, some syrup/stickiness, fairly drinkable for such a high ABV. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 8, 2007 Bottle. Viscous, pure amber body with a silky off-white head that fades. Prominent sweet maple aroma with notes of caramel, grapes and raisins plus some spicy hop character. Flavor has nutty highlights and deep caramelization with medium-high sweetness and balancing bitterness. A little syrupy, but still an enjoyable and tasty sipper.
