Probably not the reference the brewers were going for, but trust me I mean it in a positive sense. A gorgeous ruby hue and a medium head as to be expected, but the aroma is pretty distinct. I’m really getting to be a fan of wheat wines (not that they’re too common) and this one is very tasty. Medium body trending to bold, with a malt presence that doesn’t go over the top. Caramel is there for sure, but the wheat is hardcore. Even on a hot day, this is damn fine (though not quite up to the level of Smuttynose Wheat Wine). bu11zeye (5442), Frisco, Texas, USA

It made mention of it use of wheat, making it quite a unique barley wine style. Poured a dark mahogany with thin head and good lacing. Aroma was malty, alcohol and caramel. Flavor was wheat, caramel malt, a bourbon-like alcohol warmth and a dry hop finish. Full flavored, medium body. Pretty good brew that will kick your ass a bit, too. dra19 (89), Zeeland, Michigan, USA

Nose is boozey, baked bread, burnt caramel, burnt crust. Mouthfeel is full. The ABV is definately there. Taste is pretty one dimensional of Booze, homemade bread with burnt crust. As it warmed it turned to a watery version of a cheap whiskey, left the lips sticky. IMO,a bomber is too much for 1 person as the finish, both cool and warmer was a bit harsh. Prob better in the 4 pack. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2007 Sampled at DLD. Pours a clear amber with a white head. Chocolate, toffee, carmel, fruit, and hops in the nose. The flavor is similar with candied sugars. Kinda funky with a sour vinegar tinge to it that I’m getting sick of quick. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2007 Pours amber/orange with a small head that dissipated disturbingly fast. Aroma of toffee and light apple vinegar. Taste was surprisingly fruity; strawberries, if you can believe that! Also some caramel and wheat. Alcohol was well covered. Mostly sour flavor, with a sweet finish. Unique.
