Goblincat (356), Westland, Michigan, USA Jul 7, 2006 Pours amber-orange, with very quick dying head. Apricot, orange, alcohol, and maple syrup nose. Semi-thick, oily mouthfeel with a taste full of alcohol, flowers, a touch of sour fruit, and wheat. Not very smooth, but I don’t think that was intended anyway. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 22, 2006 Bottle. Orange-copper with a medium creamy off-white head. The aroma is quite nice - bread, alcohol, caramel, and rye-ish sweetness. The body is pretty soft and warm and the wheat contribution gives it a nice creamy texture. Caramel and actually a reasonable hop character with some sweetness. Very drinkable and balanced. Tasty.
Purchased at Bello Vino in Ann Arbor in April 2006. Radek Kliber (3926), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Jun 12, 2006 Amber, medium thick head. Neat aroma, wheat, malts, milky with clean alcohol topped by sweet caramel. Full bodied, warming alcoholic palate, soft bodied. Chewy, flowery middle and more of caramel malts. Nice session finisher. ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Jun 10, 2006 Pour a dark amber with a tiny, off-white head. The aroma fairly sweet, some toffee, pine and citrus. The flavor resinous pine sovered in sticky, sweet caramels, light hints of chocolate. The mouthfeel is smooth with a slightly warm finish though it wears the 10% well. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 9, 2006 Didn’t really like this beer too much. It had a bitter taste with a sharp bitter aftertaste. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 8, 2006 I’m pretty surprised at how good this was. It was somewhere between the uber-malty barley wines and the hoppy ones. I didn’t notice much alcohol but I was drunk. Really creamy in texture and quite rich in flavor. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 8, 2006 i acutally thought this was really good. lots of caramel/toffee malts in the aroma. a friend found some hops there, but i didn’t really pick that up. flavor profile wasn’t challenging but iit definintely had stuff going on. very obviously malty, extermely sweet, a good amount of caramel cream. a friend called it super-british and i can agree with that insofar as certain components did bring the fuller’s vintages to mind. almost no alcohol in the flavor at all, even while it warmed up. i thought this was both surprisingly and absolutely very good. shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA May 18, 2006 Pour is bright mellon with a thin ring of creamy bubbles. I belive my first wheatwine. Tangy aroma. Almost soured grain. Flavor is a bit sour with a wheaty harsh finish. Tangy again.
