3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
While I was saving this for a special occasion, "SCREW ALL THIS GOVERNMENTAL RED TAPE," seemed an appropriate occasion as well. Despite being adequately chilled and undisturbed, this pours with over 3/4 head, spongy and yellowish, over a light-hazed, orange-tinted-amber body. Candied, piney, bubblegum aroma, with touches of green wood behind. (I have not chewed gum of any type for many years, but this made me recall those supersweet, pink blocks of waxpaper-wrapped gum with that sugary, white residue...) Extremely UN-matched flavor to the aroma, which was at first quite off-putting. Mild honey notes to what I would call an, "extreme ESB." If I hold my breath, the flavor makes more sense, and I find lightly-sweetened, caraway rye toast. The pairings, as listed on the label, make perfect sense ("blue cheese, blackened seafood, herb-roasted poultry")... sharp, potent flavors which would "pair with" (i.e. "compare to") the sharpness of this beer. But I do not see such pairings as being "balanced" nor "complementary". Regardless: Thick, very good. Excellent?... Form your own opinions. It’s definitely worth a try at the price. ~~~~~~~~~ Vintage 2011; Bomber from Binny’s, Orland Park, IL, about 2 weeks ago.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Is this one old, perhaps? Slightly vegetal in aroma and taste. Drinkable and decent despite. Not worth bomber status.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour out of 22 oz bottle, clear dark orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of orange peel, lemon, nice rye notes into some bread, yeasty notes, some slight caramel. Taste was fruity, some citrus into a bit of lemon, some floral notes into rye, biscuit and bread, finishing bitter. Decent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This bottle was courtesy of Strykzone. He sent it a couple years ago and it had been languishing on the top shelf of my beer cellar getting overlooked. Pours a rich amber with a good sized beige head the dropped quickly leaving light lacing. Nose of rye and floral hops. Medium in body, Spicy on the tongue. Flavor is dominated by the rye and the floral hops kind of get overwhelmed . Because I tool so long to drink this some of the hops may have faded. A lot of bitterness and the rye spice continues into the finish. Tasty. Nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber served in a tulip. The beer pours a cloudy amber orange with a thin off white head that leaves ok lacing. Aroma is spicy up front with rye. Pine, citrus, and caramel are also there. Flavor is rye, hay, caramel, toffee, and some citrus. The beer is extremely dry and somewhat quenching. Pretty good.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
651 ml. bottle. Vintage 2014. Pours a medium, well retained, ivory head, with extensive lacing, over a slightly hazy, dark amber (SRM 15) body......nose is grapefruit peel, rye spice, light toffee/caramel....taste is slightly floral sweet, with toffee/caramel hints, orange peel, cereal malts, rye spice, becoming dry, finishing with a moderate hop bitterness, balance to the malts.....mouth feel, light of medium body, with slight watery notes, no alcohol, tingling creamy carbonation, with light acid finish. This is a delicately balanced beer with rye, malts and hops all playing a role. As a Pale Ale it is a bit too low on hop dominance, but with the added rye, it takes on nice complexity in both aromas and flavors. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Nearly clear dark amber with a frothy beige head that rapidly drops to a cover, bands of lace. Sharp aroma of malt and bitter. Taste is nicely mixed sweet malt and bitter rye that move smartly through the palate to an edgy citrus bittering in a lingering finish. A pretty solid brew, worth searching out. Recommended.
