Rye lends spiciness to the caramel-malt base, while creating a creamy texture. Dry-hopping contributes a fresh citrus finish. Pairings: blue cheese, blackened seafood, herb-roasted poultry.

22oz bomber from Spirits Middletown. Poured a good looking deep amber/orange body with a larger full foamy of white head that leaves some lace and loads of foam on the edges of my Weyerbacher tulip as this one sips down. Aroma starts off with a big burst of rye, dry citrus, bread and some lemon. Fuller body with stronger carbonation and a slightly dry finish. Flavor has a slight touch pepper along with rye, bread crusts, citrus rinds, some citrus meats and doughy bread. Gotta say New Holland hit a home run with these Hatter treatments.

Poured into a pint glass out of a 22oz bomber. Pours a slightly hazy medium copper with a fairly hefty one finger off-white head. Head retention is very good although lacing is lacking somewhat. Aroma has a touch of tropical fruit mixed with some pine and earth. That telltale rye spiciness is present although it is not as up front as I was hoping. Fairly juicy all-around but a bit of a let down. The flavor improves somewhat but I feel it is still lacking a huge hit of rye. Orange and tangerine from the hops and a nice hop juiciness. The citra really comes through. Rye spice is in the background but really lacks a punch. Nice slick mouthfeel that I was expecting and solid malt backbone but sort of boring. Bitterness is only moderate. Overall, I was a bit let down by this beer. It honestly doesn’t seem a whole lot different from the standard mad hatter. Not really worth going out of your way for.

on draft. poured a medium to dark amber color with white head and plenty of lacing all the way down the glass. the aroma of malts and hops and the spiciness from the rye. the flavor was quite good. the medium malt base with the hops front end bitterness followed by the rye spice blends very well together. overall a solid beer that is more than drinkable.

Bottle at home. Pours clear burnished copper with a large, frothy and bubbly off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is spicy and earthy rye malt, light honey and caramel malt notes with hints of toast, moderate earthy, pine and resiny American hops and light peppery alcohol. Flavor is moderate pine, resiny and citrus American hops, moderate bitterness accentuated by the earthy and spicy rye malt, lightly sweet honey and caramel malt notes, balanced toward the hop bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation with light alcohol warmth.

Dark amber with rimming beige head; aroma is malty slightly woody hints of dry spicy grain; feels medium with nice fizziness fading to foaminess; finishes dry slight malty notes and grassy graininess

500ml bottle, Vintage 2013. Foil wrapped. Orange amber color. Aroma of hops, caramel malts, some spicy rye. Simple body, lighter than expected. There is a definite tingle on the palate, from the rye, exactly what I was looking for. Nice toasted grain flavors. (4110)

It pours with a large head. It is a light golden color with tinges of orange. The aroma has a distinct caramel malt domination with other grains present. There is lacing on the side as the head retreats down the glass. There is a pleasant caramel and grain mixture for the taste. The is a dry texture to it, but not too much on the citrus side.

The color is a hazy orange with a small off-white head, and the aroma blends floral and citrus hops with rye and caramel malts. The taste is quite bitter, slightly sour, and a touch sweet, which creates for an unbalanced and simply alright beer; the palate fuses an average carbonation, sticky texture, bitter finish, and a medium body.

Bottle, which completely exploded across the hotel room..so half a bottle I guess. Smells good (all over everything) like first hops.Light spicy rye and sweet caramel with pine and citrus hops. Not bad.
