This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and youíll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Dark, with medium head. Pours so thick the last couple drops looked like syrup. Smell is more hoppy than I expected from a stout. Feels as thick in the mouth as it looked pouring. Taste is very good too, smooth and very little bitterness. Not quite Dragonís Milk, but so far New Holland is batting 1.000 with me.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2016 Itís a lovely chocolate malt aroma, it pours into this beautifully dark and rocky beer. Then youíre hit with this wonderfully balanced flavor of malt and chocolate. Out of a bottle, Iíve always been way less than impressed with an overly bitter and uninteresting beer. On tap, itís one of the best stouts Iíve had for drinking.

Poured into tulip glass, dark brown with thin head. Full bodied and creamy, roasty malt flavor and finish. Did not pick up much chocolate in the taste.

Deep brown body with a light tan head. Aroma reminiscent of pine. Taste is rich with oat and a chocolate but not bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pint on tap at Beer Revolution in Edmonton pours almost black in color with a finger of light beige head that leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted grains and chocolate. Taste is a milk chocolate sweetness with a light roasted grain bitterness. Medium bodied with modest carbonation. Overall, this is a solid stout, but there are better ones out there.

Rich and roasted well with a touch of cocoa nib and a light espresso bean. Smooth and a tad sweet with a full body and a creamy mouthfeel. Roasted and robust malt throughout with a heavy cocoa on the back end. Creamy in the middle.

Bottle pour - havenít had this one in a long time, and surprised I havenít rated it. Near black pour with a deep brown head that settles very quickly into a thin film with heavy effervescence. Aroma is very sweet and malty, caramel...hint of smooth roasted coffee, sweet chocolate - enticing! Flavor has a bit of a roasted malt character - lactose is evident. Good, but not ígreatí. Mildly, not overpowering creamy mouthfeel. Nice drink...
