This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Quoth the raven, "Nevermore." As black as the Night’s Plutonian shore, The Poet ought to be the drink of choice for mourning narrators who want only to be left with their misery over love lost but instead have to converse with ravens who insists on perching above their chamber doors. Also, this may be a good choice if you enjoy Oatmeal Stouts. Rich, velvety smooth, and bittersweet palate. Notes of dark chocolate, cream, coffee, roasted barley, and black licorice. It’s at its best when slightly warm. Another fantastic New Holland Stout.

Nice stout...not quite as good as I’d hoped, but as advertised - subtle hints of coffee and chocolate, and a nice firm malt bill. Smooth if not big bodied.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Aroma is light roasted malts, milk chocolate, dark fruits, coffee. Appearance is dark brown with some reddish-orange at the edges, 1/2 finger width foamy light brown head that dissipates quickly and fair lacing. Taste has more roasted quality than aroma, moderately strong sweet and bitter balance, more chocolate dominant than coffee. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture, above average carbonation and pleasant long bitter finish. Overall, this is smooth, rich and delicious without being too heavy.

One of the best oatmeal stouts EVER! Pours a dark beer with a small head. Chocolate, coffee and roast taste. Very good dark brew and very drinkable as opposed most other dark stouts!!!

Nice oatmeal stout. Lower alcohol helps make it pretty drinkable and a very versatile beer for pairing with food.

Pours an oily black with a darker cappuccino head. Aroma is coffee, creamy, chocolate, caramel, warm buttery toffee, weak anise/licorice. Taste is dry dark chocolate, black coffee, then the oats and creaminess, lots of malt and a slight note of darker stone fruits. Overall a very drinkable oatmeal stout.

Pours a dark brown with coca head. Head recedes to sides of glass, curtain laceing. Aroma of roasted malts, grain and basement. Taste of dark roasted malts, chocolate, burnt bread. Taste gets deeper with warming. Has a just creamy mouthfeel. Roasted malts linger longer into the finish. Nicely done, enjoyed.

0.4 draft. Clear, dark brown color and a small, tanned head of poor retention. Aroma of dark malts, some roast, grains, hints of coffee, and oats. Medium body, creamy texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is long and chocolaty. Overall not a bad beer, served a tad too cold though.

Dark brown with brown head. Light roast the Coco aroma (and I sense some oats but that's probably the power of suggestion). Flavor is very roasty and dry. character of lightly sweetened black coffee, taste of roasted malt and medium bittering. classic oatmeal Porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
