This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Really nice oatmeal stout. Has a creamy, chocolate my aroma. Similar on the taste. Overall very enjoyable and great representation of the style ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark brown, opaque, with a tan head. Aroma is licorice and figs. Taste is raisins, oats, and roasted malt. Not real bitter at all. Has a medium mouth feel. Pretty decent stout.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma of coffee, nuts, and slight chocolate. Medium sweetness with lots of coffee flavor and hints of chocolate. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Thin feel in the mouth for stout with a clean finish; strikes me more like a porter. Overall, an enjoyable, easy drinking stout.

bottle. Near black with small head. Rich malt with chocolate and light coffee. Solid but unexceptional stout.

On cask poured into a nonic glass. Likely due to the hand pump, the aromas seem muted, although maybe this one just naturally has muted notes. I was able to pick up notes of vanilla, cream, milk chocolate malt balls, and warm oatmeal. It pours a rich, dark brown - opaque - with a bubbly and rocky espresso-colored head that retains well and leaves abundant, cloudy lace. The tastes are fairly muted too, but a moderate, mellow (Guinness-like) sweetness is accompanied by a very light resin bitterness.that provides a cleansing and refreshing quality to the drink. The medium body is rich and malty with texture somewhere between oily and creamy (more creamy thanks to the cask). The carbonation is mostly flat (again, cask influences) with very oatmeal chocolate raisin cookie character on the mouth. Maybe even a subtle caramel hint in there too. The finish is a light roasted coffee and grain nature that’s mostly clean.

Great tasting almost Guiness style brew. Good looking brew and great tasting brew. Wonderfully balanced.

The Poet pours black with a thick light tan head that lasts a long while and leaves thick lacing. The aroma is faint, but features coffee, cream and chocolate. The flavor is cream, coffee and chocolate. Overall this is a nice stout.

Pours a deep brown color with a small head and only a bit of lacing. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and nutty with a bit of grain. Taste is mostly coffee, some roasted malt with a trace of chocolate in the background. Has a coffee bitterness and a very dry finish. Medium body, with a bit of a gritty coffee feel that seems to linger. Drinkable beer, that fits the style.

Dark brown pour with creamy white head. Very drinkable example of the style and my favorite offering from the New Holland beers I have tried. Roasty, chocolately, and drier than I expected.
