This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Pours almost opaque, deep dark brown with dark copper highlights when lit, medium- high creamy head persists well and leaves some lacing. Roasty nose with hints of coffee, dark fruit, and cocoa. Medium-full body is somewhat creamy. Soft medim-light carbonation lets the balanced flavors of sweet dark malt and tempered roastiness shine through. The finish is slighlty sweet and smooth with no harsh bitterness from dark grain. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a nice dark color with a light tan head that doesn’t last too long but leaves great lacing. Flavor is kind of fizzy with notes of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and oatmeal. Flavor is initially a nice sweet bitterness of dominant chocolate and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is full and carbonation is silky. Thanks for the trade JB.

Too thin for my Stout taste. Chocolate nose, coffee taste as it warms. It’s all chocolate cold, coffee and bitter as it warms...but too much bitter.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2014 One of my first big loves and still is to this day. Pours a dark roast coffee color with a nice slowly rise light creamed mocha colored head. A fresh coffee aroma mixed with a heavy chocolate nuttiness. The flavors are fantastic that blend perfectly. A huge chocolate base with a smooth coffee flavor. A tad of vanilla swirled in. Very roasty in such a good way. A nice balance of a variety of nutty flavors. The mouthfeel is great. Very creamy and smooth. Mix all this with its just barely peaking over 5% abv and you have a big favorite of mine. Definitely my favorite from the brewery by a longshot. Available year round and almost everywhere. This will be a long time favorite.

Black color, medium sized brown head. Wonderful chocolaty, roasted malty aroma with hints of cream (fudge). Chocolate, roasted malt and some soapish hints in flavor. Also some wooden hints in flavor. The flavor is kind of weak
