3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - Pours oily dark brown/black with medium light tan head. Aroma is malty with chocolate and coffee. Palate was not as heavy as it poured. Medium in body with a touch of carbonation. Upfront taste is roasted coffee with some malt present. Follow through is bitter roasted coffee with a hint of chocolate sweetness. Aftertaste brings out dark chocolate notes and more roastiness. Overall this is a pretty good stout with heavy roasted coffee. Not the best stout I’ve ever had, but definitely not the worst.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
OK stout - nothing to talk about. Definate coffee aroma and taste. Not much of a stout, more of a bland porter. Not a repeat buy.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured a brownish color, not black for sure. The head was almost white, very light tan. The aroma was hard to pick up, some coffee. The flavor was somewhat watered down, coffee the strongest, and light lactic notes at the end. Mouthfeel pretty light. Not a great beer, mediocre at best.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, no date. Pours a dark brown, almost black with a large (quickly fading) beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and a little nutty. Flavor roasted malts, some smokiness, coffee and bitter chocolate. Slight roasted malt bitter finish. Nothing amazing.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2010 Re-rate: Nice, un-muddied sweet stout aroma. Vinous/fruit tones in the aroma. Improved label. Clear, though almost opaque rootbeer brown with a tallish but sparse khakit head. Good CO2 balance, good roast, lightly sweet with coffee. Clean finish (with some chalk,) medium body. Aroma is very complex. Bumped the rating up a little.
Old Rating: Hoppy, tangy, dark malt aroma. Cascading brown head, deep clear ruby brown-black. Bad clipart label. Hoppy west coast style. Tangy, porterish, clean and balanced. Not as robust as say, 8 Ball or No. 38, but in the same vein. Medium body. Finishes medium long and roasty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Murky brown with a tan head that quickly fades away. Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate aroma. Roasted malt dominates the taste with notes of coffee followed by a lonf dry chocolate finish. Chewy body.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very dark brown color with medium tan head. Aroma is strong of chocolate with hints of coffee and caramel. Flavor is the same with a nice sweet, malty finish. Also has a nice flavor of roasted malts to blend well with the other flavors. A good stout.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Below average for what I expect from a stout. It does have a nice flavor, but is a bit too spritzy.
