3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Party Source in Bellevue, KY. Pours a translucent deep brown with a small dissapating tan head. Aroma of dark roast and cocoa powder. Medium mouthfeel with some mild creaminess, and perhaps a tad watery in texture. Initial flavor of nuts, bitter watered down coffee, and bakers chocolate. Bitter and burnt finish, with some dryness . Not very sweet for the style. But not bad.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 11, 2007 Poured dark brown black with ruby covered in tan foam, roasted malt and sweet chocolate fragrances, coffee ground aroma mixed with some earthiness, some hop flower bouquet, faint citrus aroma, little smoke in the background here and there, smooth roasted malt taste, bitter coffee flavor, hop bite in the finish, faint chocolate on the tongue, medium mouth feel or less, I found very little sweetness in this drink, it is easy to drink and smooth but hardly any sweetness about it, the hop bite appears to override the sweet taste, there is a bitter finish to this drink.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours nearly black with a thin brownish head. Nice aroma of coffee and chocolate. Heavy on the palate like a stout should be. Good flavor with notes of bitter chocolate and cereal (maybe oatmeal?). Bitter aftertaste. A good stout.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter glass
A: Pours an extremely dark brown, near black, with a nice 1-finger tan head. Looks creamy & inviting.
S: Smells of sweet, roasted oats. Hints of vanilla and maple syrup round out the overall aromatic body.
T/M: Big, chunky bursts of dark chocolate, cocoa & malted milk charge right out of the gate. Finish is roasted & bittersweet, the hops finally making a nice entrance, almost overpoweringly so. Beer loses points for being too consistent throughout, nothing changes or improves as it warms. Medium-bodied creaminess dominates the mouthfeel of this lightly carbonated ale.
D: Very easy to drink, would make for a quality session beer, though it might become a bit bland after 3 or 4.

Black, as one might expect. Vanilla and chocolate in the aroma, very nice and subtle. Has familiar coffee and chocolate flavors, too. Smooth and tasty.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Maybe I didn’t let this warm up enough, but it wasn’t what I expected. It poured brown/black and had a roasted coffee aroma. It was light in flavor and had a sweet finish.
