COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and youíll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Mild nose with hints of the usual coffee and chocolate. Maybe a slightly smokey aroma as well. Pour was a beautiful clear black with a short lived small head. Light and mild flavor would make this a good first stout for a confirmed macro drinker. Lots of bubbles, smooth finish, nice burps :>). Plesant and easy to drink.

Poured a clear dark brown color with a huge tan head. Aoma of tart chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor continued with the roasted malt and some more chocolate. Very lively mouthfeel from the heavy carbonation.

Bottle: Black with thin fizzy head, which dissipated quickly after pouring. Wasnít as impressed with this as my mouth was hoping it to be. To much coffee in the nose, followed by a touch of carmel and chocolate. Mouthfeel was considerably thinner than I was expecting, and whats up with the carbination? Other than that an intersting stout.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2009 Rerate from bottle (8-2-2009). Aromas seem far less than before... not much going on other than some wet wood and roasted malt. Flavor seems to have taken a dive, too. There is a bit of roasted malt... some chocolate and wood, but smoke and peat seem to not be here with this bottle. (Original rating 8 4 8 4 15) Wonderful aroma over a dark, dark brown body. Smoke, peat and dark chocolate. Head is tan and not worth much. Looks good and goes away quickly, leaving little behind in terms of lacing. Flavor is a quick burst of roasted malt that gives way to chocolatey undertones and then wood/peat/charcoal (???) flavor that is different and a nice way to finish. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

This beer has the aroma of smoke and coffee. This beer fills the glass with a black liquid that sits under a thick almond colored head. The taste is introduced by a combination of smoke and roasted nuts as the solution flows through the mouth a coffee taste can be picked up. This beer is moderately thick and mildly carbonated that leaves a nice taste lingering on the palate.

12 oz bottle, via Walleye. The loudest pop ever when I popped the cap. It actually startled me. Very gental pour yielded 1/2 in. beer, 6 in. foam. After 10 minutes and several pours I get a nearly black body with a chocolate brown head. Torrents of carbonation rising from the depths. Aroma slightly sour with light coffee and roasty notes as well as some lactose. Rather light in flavor with some roastiness. Lactic and mineral finish. Very thin with excessive fizzy carbonation. With the excessive foaming, I expected an infection but either it isnít infected or itís at a very early stage. So I think that this is an accurate representation of a beer thatís just a thin watery example of a Sweet Stout.

Pours black with a cream and brown colored head that did not last. This stout was on the dry irish-style side. I really enjoyed this stout and could taste the coffee undertones more than the chocolate undertones. This is what I look for in a stout.

Bottle. Pours a dark black with a non-existant head with decent lacing on the glass. The aroma is pretty faint... a little chocolate, a hint of coffee. The taste is very smooth. Same hint of coffee with a bit of chocolate. The flavor increases as the beer warms a bit, improving the beer quite a bit.
