3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown body, red edges. Small head that disappeared to leave just a ring of bubbles around the rim. M&M type of chocolate in the aroma followed up by a feeding bag of oats. Mainly bitter in the taste, like coffee or maybe baking chocolate. Bitter finish as well. I had expectations from this beer that were not met, but still good overall.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Near black with hints of brown on the edges. Small creamy tan head. Aromas of mocha, heavy strap molasses, sorghum and corn bread. Initial malt sweetness well balanced by a subtle but evident hops mid-gulp. Quite mild in the finish. More of a cream stout. Quite drinkable, smooth yet a touch spritzy. Long caramel malt finish.

Good black body with frothy tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate and some toffee. Some coffee and molasses in the flavor with a rich, satisfying mouth feel. A keeper.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2004 Dark black stout, ruby red where the light shines through. Thin cream head. Smells of coffee grounds and chocolate. Also smell prunes, or raisins. Tastes like espresso, nice bitterness, a little sweet but not too sweet. That is good.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Ok, this taete good cold, but then I read the serving suggestions. Trying to warm it up a bit. Need one of those coffee warmers for my beer right now. Speaking of coffee, this has a deep coffee flavor. A tasty stout, cold or warm.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured dark brown with faintest hints of garnet when held up to light. Small tan head diminished at a casual pace. Aroma is rich, deep dark roasted malts, coffee, bitter chocolate and figs. Burnt malt flavor with espresso and lingering bitter finish. Full body and almost - but not quite - creamy carbonation. Nice stout overall.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer's appearance was that of a small sized tan head that was creamy and smooth and contained fine-medium sized bubbles that completely dissipated. The body had some noticeable soft carbonation, opaque with a reddish brown hue. The nose consisted of chocolate and coffee with the same nose in the taste as well. The taste of this beer was a little more milder than I was expecting. The palate was creamy and smooth and this beer was medium bodied. This beer left a fair amount of lacing on the sides of my glass. Not a bad Sweet Stout overall.

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer I fear
is very near
a great stout
of that I have no doubt
but fall short it does
without any buzz
but still it's alright
to drink this night!
The RB poet strikes again!
This brew poured a small head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a good cutain like lace and am opaque dark brown colored body with no visible carbonation. The aroma is excellent for a fine stout with notes of dark malt, mollasses and coffee. The mouthfeel is very smooth with only a slight hop tingle to it. The flavor is on the mild side though. It is sweet dark malt, very mild coffee notes and a little mollasses.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2007 A nice sweet stout, this one has a good roastiness to it in both flavor and aroma. This, however, strikes me as one of those beers that is difficult on which to comment. No feature is so exceptional or incredibly weak to really stand out, and so this stout, also, will not stand out. Itís pretty good...but has no real distinguising character to really make the style its own. It is, however, fairly thin for a stout of any variety.
