This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and youíll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Black, as one might expect. Vanilla and chocolate in the aroma, very nice and subtle. Has familiar coffee and chocolate flavors, too. Smooth and tasty.

Maybe I didnít let this warm up enough, but it wasnít what I expected. It poured brown/black and had a roasted coffee aroma. It was light in flavor and had a sweet finish.

Pours a dark brown....almost black...with slight tan head. Aroma is a bit unremarkable, but I can pick up the roast and chocolate. Taste is smooth and even with roast and chocolate and suprising light for a stout. Couldnít really identify the coffee flavoring.

This beer is a bit lighter than others Iíve had in the stout style lately, but this very drinkable beer still fits the category, and is still qutie good. This beer doesnít pour inky black the way Speedway Stout or Old Rasputin does (Iíve had both recently), although it is still rather dark, with some less serious head formation. Aroma is of dark roasted malt ("burned pizza crust") and is good. Taste is a bit light, but very roasted malt tasting...good. The beer is very dry in the front, but the finish is a bit sweeter. Mouthfeel is very light for a beer of this style. This is the most drinkable stout Iíve had in recent memory.

Bottle: Dark body, tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee. Flavor was thin for a stout. Was expecting more from this offering.

Black with white head. Nice rich aroma with some roast and chocolate. Rich malty flavor with good roast. Medium-full bodied, but lacked the slickness usually associated with oats. Overall nice.

Thereís a lot of chocolate in the aroma and flavor. Also, some noticeable oat sweetness in there too. A pretty solid stout, no doubt.
