This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Black w/ frothy, two-toned beige head. Roasty, lightly smoky aroma of dark chocolate, bitter coffee, molasses, caramel, & plums. Thick, chewy feel. Roasty, moderately complex flavour of dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, molasses, cotton candy, prunes, plums & nuts. Finish is hoppy & lingering.

Props to snowtiger. Poured a black body with a tan head. Head settled very nice, left excellent lacing. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of mesquite? Taste was coffee, chocolate. A bit too much carbonation even, hand warming this a while made it smoother. I liked this, but after so many Impy stouts, I feel regular stouts are light. rerate Damn rerate, did not taste the 6.5 % abv! well done

Pours black with a large off white head. Lacing is good. Aroma is reminiscent of grass. Mouthfeel is medium....not real heavy. Taste has a heavy hint of coffee and just a little bitter in the end. I don’t taste the chocolate that New Holland touts. This is just so-so.....I wouldn’t write home about it.

Overall a nice stout.Don’t drink it Ice cold let it warm up.More sweetness seems to bleed through when warmed. Nice coofee flavor that gives way to chocolate after warming. Not a world beater but no slouch either.

03.03.05 12 oz bottle via trade with Eyedrinkale. Very brown pour like a dark root beer; lingering tan head. Deeply roasty aromas of coconut, burnt bread, toasty grains, slightly cour. Smooth roasting throughout, mostly coffee and burnt with a nice transition to bitterness in the end. A slight twang of sourness throughout excuses the beer for its lack of full, thick texture. Nothing over the top, but it’s a nice quaffing stout. Thanks Mike!
