COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

on tap @ Flipdaddy’s / Union KY --- Opaque dark brown with a thin head cover and small splotches of lace. Taste is roasted caramel malt that grows in the palate, adding bitter chocolate to balance in the finish. A really solid stout, big well beyond the abv, almost too much for food, great on its own merits. Recommended.

Pours dark brown with small, creamy, beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is of piney hops, roasted malt, sour cream and some coffee. Body is full and slightly crisp. Taste is of roasted malt, burnt grain, coffee, brown sugar, herbal hops and some sour notes. Finish is long and bittersweet. On the whole it is good brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A phenom in the oatmeal stout world. I absolutely love this beer and it is my favorite from New Holland.

Bottle. Date unknown. Pours jet black with thin tan head. Aroma is a bit of coffee, some floral notes. I pick up some acidity in the flavor (orange?) and some biscuit/bready notes as well. Oatmeal adds nice depth though it’s drier and more bitter than a traditional sweet stout.

Pours a dark black color with roasted aroma of hops. Chocolate oatmeal taste with a clean aftertaste. A smooth flavorful beer that looks ominous but is easy drinking. Dry on the palate after the swallow but rich oatmeal flavor left over.

On tap at Joe Canals West Deptford.
Appearance: Opaque chestnut body with a tall and dense darker tan head on top with great retention.
Aroma: Very weak aroma with a subtle fruit leaning bias. Hints of chocolate are noticed with a dash of caramel.
Taste: The flavor is mildly sweet with a dash of roast, a dash of smoke, a dash of caramel and a dash of chocolate. A little of everything but nothing is prominent.
Palate: Creamy and full-bodied.
Overall: Really unimpressive. It’s not that it’s a bad beer, it’s that it lacks focus. There’s a lot of subtle flavors, but nothing that stands out. Everything sort of gets lost.
