COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown with red edges and an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of roast, milk chocolate, cocoa and light coffee. Tastes of milk chocolate, roast, and a light coffee finish. Body on the somewhat thin side.

This beer is an opaque dark brown (almost black) color with a medium beige head that dissipates slowly. Thin curtain of lacing throughout the glass. The aroma is very roasty, with coffee and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied and closer in consistency to a Porter than a Stout. Roasted coffee at the forefront, with molasses, chocolate and some hops in the flavor. The finish is mildly bitter and roasty. Overall this is a pretty good Stout, but it is lacking richness.

Decent Oatmeal stout, started out very nice, got a little boring by the end, but overall good.

A blackish stout, minimal head. Faint roast, some malt in the nose. About average mouthfeel, which is below average for this style. Modest sourness. Drinkability is about average. A decent beer, but not best representation of style.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2014 Re-rate 5/27/14: Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks zvikar. Creamy, chocolate, roasty, bittersweet. Good. 7/3/7/4/15=3.6

(10/26/08) Bottle at Barcade in Brooklyn. Black-colored with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, some chocolate and vanilla notes. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, chocolate, caramel notes and some oatmeal. Medium-bodied and a very carbonated palate. A nice Stout. 7/4/7/3/13.5

Bottle... Black ale with a mid-sized, frothy, well-tanned head. Good retention. Milk chocolate and caramel aroma. Well rounded, burnt, chocolaty notes in the flavor. Medium bitter with good balance. Medium to full-bodied with lively carbonation. Roasted, mildly burnt, lightly bitter finish. Lots of milk chocolate overall. Reminds me just a bit of Weyerbacher’s Old Heathen. Thanks go out to WBC for the bottle!

Tasted on tap at the International Tap House in St. Louis, Missouri. Dark orange-brown appearance (a bit off for a Stout). Nice sweet stout aroma . Flavor is pretty smooth but dark malts aren’t as obvious in the flavor as a stout should be.

Courtesy of Sammy. Brow/black with a nice, creamy head. The aroma has notes of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt. The flavour has a nice sweetness, a smooth, full body, notes of coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malt and it ends slightly dry. It’s nice, charming and uncomplicated.

12oz bottle, for $1.83 from Dutch’s. Pitch-black appearance, tan head leaving rows of lacing. Really delicious, rich bittersweet taste that has a long finish. Oat-y malt aroma, creamy, some coffee. Roasty. Barely carbonated, perfect thick texture, long aftertaste. Great morning brew.
