3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a dark black with a non-existant head with decent lacing on the glass. The aroma is pretty faint... a little chocolate, a hint of coffee. The taste is very smooth. Same hint of coffee with a bit of chocolate. The flavor increases as the beer warms a bit, improving the beer quite a bit.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is roasty chocolate malt with a coffee bitterness, just the right amount of soft sweetness for the style. not bad

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
New Holland The Poet
12 oz bottle
Recent bottling, prosed 10/06
Medium pour in a dimpled mug.
Poured black with brown highlights, with a medium light brown frothy quickly diminishing head with a tiny lacing ring.
Smelt of light roasted grain and coffee.
Taste was upfront moderate bittersweet roast and nuts with mild chocolate feel followed by a nutty taste and light bitter coffee taste with a slightly sour soy sauce that transforms into an average length light dark chocolate finish with a perfumey hop kick. Mouthfeel was light to medium, oily, softly carbonated and slight astringency.
Overall, a fairly easy going standard oatmeal stout, kinda light, simple and short, but drinkable in the summer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep black with a tan head that reduces to a small thin layer.
Smells strongly of smokey roasted malts
A well balanced taste that starts with roasted malts and ends with a hint of chocolate and coffee
Really a nice oatmeal stout and would recommend to give this one a try.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
pours nearly opaque black-brown with a thick, chocolatey head that lasts forever. nose of mocha, licorice, caramel. flavor is heavy semisweet chocolate and black coffee, with licorice, caramel, and roasted malt. malty aftertaste. sits heavy in your stomach, with the palate of chocolate milk, thick and creamy...forget dessert. this IS dessert.

let it warm till 45 degrees? whoa, i’ve got to try that. it was pretty darn good anyway. i was pretty darn impressed with this brew, other than its frequent over-the-top headiness...

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This pours a very dark brown with some light being let in from the sides, with a very small mocha colored head. The smell is basically chocolate with come coffee hint, the taste is very similar a lot of chocolate with some coffee bitterness to balance a bit. This beer is very sweet, but a good example of the style.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle. Pitch black, nice long lasting tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt(similair to Whoppers candy) and coffee with heavy cream. A slight toastyness completes the nose making it almost perfect. Full bodied and creamy this beer was a touch bitter right out of the bottle. Mellowed out with time but I would love to try this on tap.
