COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Good stuff, but Oatmeal Stouts usually are. Not as smooth as others, but that might be in the bottle. I have had smoother and creamier, but still very good.

Old rating. Deep brown pour. Roasty malts, chocolate, coffee, maybe some dark fruits - a little sweet and chewy. Full bodied. Pretty good.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown color with a slim glazing of off-white foamy head. Barely any lacing but what there is slides down. The smell had a rich sweet chocolate to roasty coffee, decadent. The taste was rich and subtly sweet smooth chocolate. Light vanilla adds to balance and leaves a slight sticky sweet aftertaste leading into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability to sipping quality about it. It’s got a good thickness running in and out along my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good oatmeal stout ranging on the sweet side. Makes for a nice night cap on a chilly Spring night.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a big creamy tan head that retains well and lace the glass a little.

The aroma is sweet roasty chocolate malt and oatmeal.

The flavor is sweet chocolate malt, some acidic roast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a solid oatmeal stout.

12 oz bottle purchased as part of a mix a six at K-7 Liquors in Shawnee, Kansas. I believe 4244 is stamped on the neck, though it is a little unclear. The pour is an opaque brown black with a solid one inch tan head. The aroma is roast along with nutty malt. The taste is roast, slightly char malt up front, then moving into an earthy mineral in the back. Some nutty caramel light sweetness comes out as the beer warms. Nice balance to flavors. The palate is medium to light bodied, active carbonation and a dry mineral finish. Tasty beer.

Bottle pours black and tan head. Sweet aroma, some roast and cocoa... dreamy. Rich, some burnt malt and roast but sweet malt flavor starts this off. Palate is full and coats your tongue. Its almost too big for its britches.

Bottle. Rich roasted malt aroma with notes of coffee and chocolate. Pours black with a thin light brown head and no lacing. Starts with roasted malt and light chocolate flavors included in the full body. Finishes smooth with the roasted malt continuing through to the end with a touch of coffee. Nice stout.
