COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

Pours a very dark redish brown with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is roast, and a hint of sweet spice. Taste is roast and a mild sweetness of chocolate and there is some coffee also in the mix though fairly muted. Medium body. Good brew.

Black pour, mahogany pinstriping when illuminated beneath a short, fading, mostly tight khaki head which creates a solid ring and pair of short peninsulas of lace

Aromas and flavors of coffee infused vanilla, treacle and caramel with biscuit accents on a medium body with a dense character cut with plenty of lively carbonation leading to smoke, damp wood and subtle soy sauce with nuances of slightly wonky umami - flash of creamed corn - chocolate in the finish and residual, ultimately a welcome heavy feel and richness considering the alc %

Dark black body, brown head, not much retention, some lacing. Initially a hit of roasted malts, then some lactose and a touch of dried fruit. Taste is semi-sweet, milk chocolate, a touch of burnt malts. Thinnish palate. Could be more pronounced overall, but not bad.

Old rating. Deep brown pour. Roasty malts, chocolate, coffee, maybe some dark fruits - a little sweet and chewy. Full bodied. Pretty good.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown color with a slim glazing of off-white foamy head. Barely any lacing but what there is slides down. The smell had a rich sweet chocolate to roasty coffee, decadent. The taste was rich and subtly sweet smooth chocolate. Light vanilla adds to balance and leaves a slight sticky sweet aftertaste leading into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability to sipping quality about it. It’s got a good thickness running in and out along my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good oatmeal stout ranging on the sweet side. Makes for a nice night cap on a chilly Spring night.
