3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at New Holland. A dark opaque stout with minimal head that disappears fast and leaves no lace. Faint coffe aroma coming through the malt aroma. Dark malty taste with chocolate undertone. Nice light hop finish. Not bad but a bit thin.

I’m guessing the poet is Edgar Allen Poe, and the bird on the label is the Raven. I’m a smart one, should try out for Jeopardy.

Bottle via trade. Appearance is dark brown with a light tan head. Cocoa aroma with rich sweet chocolate. Powdery sweetness on the nose. Flavor is a dry sweet chocolate with a bitter bakers chocolate finish. Slightly watery on the finish.

Looks and smells the part, but falls short once it hits the tongue. Fairly thin and ordinary. From tap.

I was not impressed with this stout. Kind of thin and bland. I would not buy again.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Black with a brown tinted head that lasts. Moderate roast malt aroma with a hint of sweetness. Light roasted malt flavor, same with sweetness, hint of hop bitterness. Medium body with a spiciness. Maybe mine was served too cold - I expected more flavor, silkiness/creaminess.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Appearance is black with a one finger width head of khaki colored foam. Aroma is rich milk chocolate and coffee with a touch of oatmeal influence. Taste is sweet and chocolate-y. This is the type of beer that has a nice taste without being overly interesting or influential. I like it, but wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to have it again. The label art is pretty cool, though.

bottle from gbx on 7/10/11.
darker than typical porter brown color with a creamy tannish head. looks like cola with a sponge on top.
aromas of coffee-like nuttiness, roast, metallic roast...maybe oats, choco and moist dustiness.
flavor is the same but with a dry spicy finish and the added notes of tar, dark malt syrup and molasses. minty herbal hoppy AT.
crisp but thin. sessionable.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Ok Cheri I think this beer missed the bus myself. Well it has a black appearance. A faint to almost non exist chocolate aroma. Some sour notes with leftover coffee, grapes, and some charcoal. This one was a bit on the thin side and nothing horribly impressive. Overall ok
