ElGaucho56 (353), USA Apr 1, 2008 Pours a dark black with brown highlights and a thin tan head that quickly dissipates. Nose is musty, earthy, with strong coffee notes and a wooden smokiness, like the smell of a campfire on a cold night. Not too heavy on the palate but smooth, with added body from oats along with a correlative cereal taste, a mild vanilla sweetness and again a dominant oaken smoke character. Finishes very faintly medicinal, with a lingering but gentle herbal bitterness. A pretty decent sweet stout.
bigtaster (100), Grand Rapids, USA Jul 17, 2008 12oz bottle in snifter. Nice lack color with minimal head that dissipates hastily. Void of aromatic intensity, a little yeast and hints of chocolate. Taste does not follow the aroma, sharp bite of dark chocolate and smoky roasted malts that finishes gracefully. Rich body, lacks aroma and complexity but damn solid beer. mmm///beer (470), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 17, 2008 (Sampled 7-5-08) 12 oz. bottle poured into shaker- poured nontransparent black on a stormy night, very nice one finger off brown stayed and laced. Aroma of weak coffee, toffee, nicely roasted malts, and sucrose. Hits the mouth with a wide and deep body, malt is very enjoyable in translation from aroma, sticky throughout sipping, some bakers chocolate on the backend. I could swim in this early in the morning if I had enough cash to... sleestak (28), Williamston, Michigan, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. Poured super dark with a thin tan head with impressive staying power. Initially too cold, but upon warming a bit unleashed nice blend of dark chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt aromas. A lot of bitter chocolate up front settling into a moka java coffee finish. Nice substantial mouthfeel with more carbonation than expected. Overall a lovely, drinkable stout. Funknmilla (489), Absecon, New Jersey, USA Jul 12, 2008 12 oz bottle...pours dark brown with a light brown head thats not very prominent....light chocolate and toffee aromas, also light roasted malt...a pleasant body with just a slight carbonation...a light slightly sweet malt and toffee flavor...beer is too cold...so i let it sit for about 15-20 mins...a little chocolate, some milky malt flavors, but still light overall...a touch of molasses ....a light easy to drink stout, a little let down by it...its got a little bit too much wateriness to it for my taste ratman197 (2190), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jul 11, 2008 Bottle poured a clear dark brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee and light vanilla. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate, coffee and carmel with a smooth malty finish.
Not a bad stout just a boring one.
