2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
APPEARANCE - black, as expected.
NOSE - lightest roastiness and a touch of coffee. Improves substantially as it warms up - more than most.
FLAVOR - as it approaches arena temperature, the little coffee and roasty notes that it has to offer start to show themselves.
NOTES - good textbook stout.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Mild chocolate aroma. Dark brown/black color with minimal head and no lacing. Light somewhat slick mouth feel. On the sweet side. Not much chocolate coming through. Getting more mild fruit flavor than typical stout flavors. Not all that good overall.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Nose is deep, dark chocolate with some dark malt but not really any roast; more like ink and plum. Pitch black pour with a noisy, sudsy brown head. Watery-light medium body loaded up with velvety dark chocolate, off-dry and smooth with little fizzes of carbonation but nothing harsh. Some earthy, deep toffee but nothing sticky or too-rich, with flits of sharp berry and cherry here and there, some plummy depth, very mild and earthy hops. Actually does achieve a measure of balance, but it’s smooth and gentle all the way through with nice malt layering/complexity. Surprisingly well executed and tasty!
