COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
3R Raspberry Ale is an award winning ale with the right balance of fruit flavor and aroma. Made from sorghum, corn extract, natural raspberry puree, orange peel, hops, and yeast. Not overly sweet, the Oregon grown fruit puree creates a beautiful body color with a natural raspberry flavor.

12 oz. bottle. $2 at Lemon Tree. First beer Iíve seen with the "Nutrition Facts" on the label. Fizzy pinkish body and head. Light raspberry smell. Nothing to replace the missing malt smell. Taste is a bit of raspberry in light sparkling wine. For a brew with corn in it, it manages to rein in the usual corn sweetness. Instead, a dry, fizzy brew with raspberry in balance. Not much bitterness, so the light dryness carries the day. Best sorghum beer Iíve had.

Bottle. Nose of artificial raspberry and that strange sickly-sweet buckwheat/sorghum odor that creeps into these kinds of beers. Pours ultra-clear pink with orange tendencies and a noisy, fizzy beige head that doesnít last very long. Taste is sweet but not cloying, has a flat, airy, and lightly stripping tendency, but no really bitterness or tartness. Raspberry dominates, and thankfully redirects from the failed nose to taste natural; light mineral underneath and some twinging as the sorghum imitates wild phenolic excess. Medium body is a bit flat. Honestly, Iím fine with this, probably more as a component of a mixer than straight, but I wouldnít call it bad.

bottle - This gluten free beer smells like.... well, maybe itís raspberries. Itís odd. Overripe fruit? The flavor is sweet and bland with a very thin body. Sugary. Bleh. Sadly my advice for those with a gluten allergy is still to become a wine connoisseuer.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilburís Fort Collins. Pours a peachish orange appearance with a thin pinkish head. Spritzy raspberry wine cooler, corny aroma. Kind of bitter, light veggie, twangy raspberry, slightly citrusy flavor. Certainly better than some of New Planetís other offerings but not by much.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is golden yellow with a short-lived head and good clarity. But it is all downhill from there. Some raspberries on the nose but mostly butter and corny malts. Average mouthfeel. It fits the style. The taste does bring out some raspberries but not enough to make me think this is a raspberry beer and the raspberries I get feel artificial or from extract. This beer was one of the weaker ones I have had in awhile.

Bottle. Iíve really been putting this one off because of the name. Surprise, not bad, not great, maybe average but not as bad as I would have thought. Dark gold with a hint of red color. A quickly disappearing head. Aroma is not much raspberry almost hints of chocolate. Taste is kind of bland with a aftertaste of raspberry and not very sweet.

Bottle. Now that is an odd color, friends -- somewhere between peach, pink, orange, and yellow. Head is high, white, and quick-dissipating. Nose is raspberries sprayed down with Aqua Net. Odd on the palate -- the raspberry is there, but thereís no sweetness and the fruit is drowned in a streak that alternately reminds me of rubber cement and Bactine. Finish is long and rubbery. Um, no.

Appearance: Light clear rose petal hues under a fizzy pinkish head that disappears quickly into nothing. Swirls fizzy and disappears quickly.
Nose: A bit dank Ė fades in and out. Lemon and raspberry seeds along the sides Ė bitter, dry, and tannic. More dank darkness comes out in the middle.
Palate: Fizzy and watery with waterlogged white bread and cake. Weird banana finish with a raspberry drizzle. Lemon raspberry vinaigrette. Generic bright lemon on top. Weird chewy sorghum middle.
Final Thoughts: Very little of anything. Definitely not a good beer at all, gluten free aspect aside. Skip and go for some cider or hit up Dogfish Head for their delicious gluten-free offering.

Bottle - Raspberry, vinegar and booze. Clear reddish gold with no head. Acidic raspberry and pop like. A refreshing drink but not very beer like.
