COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
New Planet Pale Ale (formerly Off Grid Pale Ale) is a wonderful interpretation of the classic pale ale style. It has a distinctly deep amber color and great character and body. Three varieties of hops provide a wonderful aroma and a citrus and spicy hop flavor. This smooth gluten-free ale is made from sorghum and brown rice extract, molasses, tapioca maltodextrin, caramel color, hops, and yeast.

Bottle. Ok beer for what it is. Kind of funky taste. Not sure why I bought this, but I did.

Second GF beer Iíve rated, and unfortunately probably not the last. Pours a medium brown, with a decent head that makes a pretty brief appearance. The aroma is very mild, with little more than hints of hops and Iím not sure how to describe it beyond that. The taste is pretty aggressively astringent for a pale ale. Itís not a hop bitterness so much as a almost chemical bitterness. Itís a bit harsh, but if youíre after a GF beer with some balls, maybe this is your beer. Finish is dry and bitter, and it does linger a bit. Overall, not the one I would choose if Widmer Omission was on the shelves, but hey, at least theyíre trying, and it IS beer, after all.

Bottle. Floral citrus hops and sorghum aroma. Clear copper with a small off-white head. Sorghum, saccharin, and weird minty hops flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation.

Aroma is citrus, mild sweetness and the expected perfumed malts. The flavor is citrus, berries, the middle dominated by the sorghum/rice and the finish is tart.

New Planet Gluten Free Pale Ale has a fairly thick, off-white head, some thin lacing left behind on the glass, and a clear, caramel appearance, with lots of bubbles streaming up from the bottom of this etched tasting glass. Aroma is weird and medicinal- sweet, strange, and like a health food store. Taste is odd as well- the same medicinal health food taste, with the molasses, sweetness, and a decent hop bite at the end. Mouthfeel is pretty watery, and New Planet Pale Ale finishes not too dry, mediciny, and bitter. Well, for what it is, Iíll rate it at the low end of good. Itís okay to me, but I can see how it would really gag other drinkers. RJT

Bottle. Lovely bright orange colour, crystal clear, with a rapidly fading head. Aroma is of bread and tea. Flavour is really horrendous, and quite a shock after the muted but pleasant nose. Harshly bitter with medicinal and latex rubber notes. There is something dominantly phenolic here in an awful way. Undrinkable for me.
