This is an amber beer with assertive hopping. The kettle hops are Amarillo Gold and Cascade. These hops plus Columbus hops are used for dry hopping later in the fermenter.

Now brewed at Lost Rhino Brewing Company. Formerly brewed by Old Dominion Brewing Company, formerly of Ashburn.

Thanks Sierra for the bottle. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a glossy orange color with a thin white mushroom cap of a head. Once the head died down, there’s a light soapy lacing clinging and then sliding into the beer. The smell had a fair amount of citrus hops with a decent balance of caramel malts. The taste was pretty messed the same. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a slight sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed alright for the style and for me. Overall, a mostly average pale ale. I’d probably only have again if offered.

This is probably the most average pale ale I have ever tasted. There really could be so much more here, but overall the beer tastes like it is missing something. Disappointing, and probably the last Lost Rhino beer I will try...all have been a let down.

Draught @ Galaxy Hut, Arlington, VA. Pours slightly hazy light amber with small white head. Clear aroma of hops and citrus. Ditto taste. Birter aftertaste. OK Quite nice to celebrate my #1600 in a VA den, sharing my ideas with a drunken local English teacher.

Draft at Buffalo Wild Wings. Served in a lager glass, amber’ish golden color with white head. Aroma of citrus hops, sweet pale malt and a slight floral note. Taste adds more hop dimension with fruity and piney notes, nice bitterness, with grainy/slight caramel malt balance. Light body, moderate carbonation, bitter, balanced with dry hop lingering finish. Pretty nice.

On cask at Rustico in Alexandria, VA. Review from notes. The beer is a hazy light orange color with a white head that leaves ample lacing on the glass. The aroma brings some citrus, bread, biscuits, malt. Lots of bready characteristics in the flavor with a lingering hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is nice, as is typical with a cask ale. Overall, a decent beer. Serving type: cask Reviewed on: 12-08-2011
