Iím glad this new regional came onto the NC market. Old Dominion has a winner here. Too hoppy to be a real APA, this guy smells piney with some citrus behind it. The malt kicks in eventually, but isnít too noteworthy. Tastes like a good IPA. Citrussy pine hops dominate with some grassiness following. Well balanced and refreshing as can be.

An indistinct American pale ale. Pours a cloudy orange color, the head is average. A little citrus/pine hop thing going on in the aroma. Mild malt on the front of the tongue, mild hops in the middle, watery finish.

Pours a clear light orange with an average size white head. Aroma of mild resiny hops. Tastes of light resiny hops backed by sweet malt and a decent bitter finish. Light body.

Shared 22oz bottle. Looks as expected for style. Flavor: exceptionally fruity APA with near, but lower than average, bitterness. O: very nice fruity/juicy flavor. Easy drinking.

Pale orange color. Well balanced hop flavor that you can taste but that is not totally in your face. Slight dry taste.

Very drinkable session pale ale. Barley-forward with light hops. Like an English pale ale without the slight sourness. Would be great to drink by the pitcher. Hazy amber pour with ok head and lacing. Light bitterness and a snappy finish. Soft carbonation. Tap at brewpub.

Draft->mini tumbler. Amber-gold with small white head. Citrus hops with floral notes, some lite bready malt undertones. Nothing particularly noteworthy or unique, just a solid drinkable APA.

Draft at spacebar. Pours hazy bright amber with a bubbly white head. Tastes light, fruity, nutty, grassy, like mildly sweet citrus and mild hops. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet citrus hops.

Tap. Pours mostly clear amber with creamy white head. Aroma is cereal and bready malts, floral hops, light orange peel. Flavor is a good balance of bready malts and lightly bitter hops with some floral notes and citrus esters. Medium body and carbonation.

Thanks Sierra for the bottle. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a glossy orange color with a thin white mushroom cap of a head. Once the head died down, thereís a light soapy lacing clinging and then sliding into the beer. The smell had a fair amount of citrus hops with a decent balance of caramel malts. The taste was pretty messed the same. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a slight sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed alright for the style and for me. Overall, a mostly average pale ale. Iíd probably only have again if offered.

This is probably the most average pale ale I have ever tasted. There really could be so much more here, but overall the beer tastes like it is missing something. Disappointing, and probably the last Lost Rhino beer I will try...all have been a let down.
