This is an IPA lover’s pale ale. It is strongly hopped (for a pale ale) and has more of a fresh green herby flavor than other high IBU beers -- a characteristic of the Amerillo gold? I also think the NRPA has the hoppy characteristics of an IPA with a lighter body. A great refreshing summertime alternative to big IPAs - of course I could also appreciate some more hops in the recipe.

Pours to a bright, fairly thick orange, retaining a thin skin of white all the way down. Purely lovely aroma of nectarine, mandarin orange, and pine. Apples with cinnamon and burnt toffee on the malty back end. A suggestion of musty wood brings a little intrigue. Brilliant. The taste is the vague but now obvious definition of bittersweet. Dry tea leaves and autumn smoke are the highlights of this portrait of balance. Sweet, earthy and woody. Citrus, yerba, and distant shades of heather honey. Smooth and surprisingly full in the mouth. Just fantastically pleasant to drink.

Bottled on 3/22/07. A fresh one seems bound to be heavenly.

On cask at the brewpub. Wonderful floral aroma with hints of malt underneath. rich and creamy from the cask, but served a little too warm. Complex hop flavors make this a very nice beer indeed.

Most definitely better than Tupper’s Hop Pocket Ale. The floral hop aroma on this is incredible. Translates well in the flavor profile also. Just a tinge of malt to balance. Good hop bitterness. Maybe a rival to Alpha King?

Clear, amber with an immense white head, lots of lacing on the glass, pungent hop aroma, flavor of sticky citrus, lots of malt, excellently balanced. Wish i had bought more than just one bottle.

Wow, really beautiful hoppy aroma, some spruce and other juicy fruits. Fairly bitter, light on the tongue, with good lemony, citric hop flavor. Malt character is subdued, but enough chewy caramel to hold its own. Great pale ale.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2007 Clear warm copper body with fine carbonation and a nice ripply snow white head. Very appetizing fresh malty nose akin to a really good warm wort, wheaty nuttiness, and subtle hop aromas. Piney, nutty hops are more apparent in the flavor. Great balance. Very smooth medium body. Nice quality all-around. Handily beats SNPA. First beer of the year that I drank on a sunny day on my deck. I’d be happy drinking this stuff every day. Very nice!

Golden amber appearance with a small head and nice lacing. Hops and malts are well merged in the aroma, with the hops being noticable at first but with a soft, fruity maltiness taking over. Balance carries over in the taste, with a citrusy hop flavor followed by a flowery malt presence. Well carbonated when sampled from the bottle but smoother, and not as fizzy, when had on tap. Long lasting, hoppy finsih.

A great pale ale. I was suprised at how good this was. I nice mix of hops and sweet citrus. I think this beer can be enjoyed by all kinds of beer drinkers. The hoppy flavor is great for true beer drinkers too appriciate, but at the same time sweet enough for any casual drinker to enjoy. Definitly give this a try.

Excellent pale ale, quite possibly my favorite. Delicious grapefruit first notes, with a clean crisp finish. Light bitter mouthfeel but very refreshing on a summer work day. great on tap as well and hope to get my kegerator for it soon
