A good value beer that trades well on its black can and traditional image. New Zealand Lager is a full strength, easy drinking lager with a full flavoured finish. A stable favourite in parts of Auckland where it has a loyal following.

the finer points of NZL -its cheap -its easy to hide in the bushes out the front of the house party because its black cans camouflages nicely. -you can always spot the ppl who have taxed your beer cos your the only one drinking it -surely its the national beer that gives your a touch of pride with every sip

440mL can. Cheap and refreshing, A few points for being clean and hoppy. Slight phenolic aroma, but overall a wise choice that will add awesomeness to any average night.

Can from The Beer Cellar June 2013. Best thing I can say about this is that the can looked pretty good. As for what was in the can well that’s better left unsaid.

It does not taste very good, but this is a cheap NZ beer which is 5% ABV so it does have a lot going for it. Highly bongable.

Inoffensive, and in saying that, better than I remember from my youth. Its watery tepidness makes it completely forgettable, which, in a cheap beer like this, is a good thing.

Golden colour with a persistent white head and apparent carbonation. Smells of pale malt and a little skunk. Cold, yellow and mostly tasteless. There’s not a lot to this beer.

Canned 33cl. It pours a pale yellow lager with a qucik diminishing white head. Sulphury grainy nose with a hint of lime and burnt plastic. Watery taste. Acidic. Notes of burnt plastic and champagne in the taste. Decent lacing. Unpleasant acidic finish.

Not a very nice beer at all - even though it was free. 330mL Bottle, drunk out of the bottle to. Very watery tasting beer with almost no malt to speak of. Faint traces of hops to finish, which leaves a unpleasant taste in your mouth.
