COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the south of England, they prefer their brown ale maltier and lower in alcohol. Here in Newburgh, we tend to agree. Verging on black, this beer pours with a light tan head and beautiful ruby highlights in the glass. The flavor is dominated by malty sweetness and gentle hints of chocolate and toffee. A nice and sessionable 4.2% alcohol content and medium to light body begs for an evening by the fire at your local pub.

Had on tap at Astoria Bier and Cheese. Not enough malty sweetness for my taste. Palette almost too crisp for the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at brewery. Pours clear brown/dark amber with fizzy off-white head. Aroma is toasted and cookie malts, earthy and woody notes, light toffee, fig, and light raisin. Flavor is mostly toasted malts with some woody notes, light mixed nuts, and faint dark fruit esters; dry finish. Light/medium body and carbonation.

Draft at the brewery. Pours clear ruby brown with a thin off white head. Tastes like roasted coffee beans, malt, roasted nuts, and burnt toast. Light body and low carbonation. Smells roasted, malty, and very earthy.

Pours a dark black with light brown head. Has a faint coffee and aroma aroma. A little watered down and not very strong flavors of coffee, chocolate, nuts and some light brown sugar.

Draft. More coffee than I expected. Very toasty and roasty. Like I'm drinking a cloud coffee stout. Meh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at brewery. Dark brown color. Thin off-white head. Rich malt and chocolate aroma. Very roasted character and nutty in flavor. Malts dominate in finish. A truly great session ale. My favorite so far of their offerings.

Cute 16oz growler courtesy of j12601. Cheers, Jay! Pours a hazy brown with an off-white head. Nose is a beautiful bouquet of chocolate, nuts, coffee, and some mild spice with hints of earth. Nose is wonderful with hints of yeast. Flavor starts with mild nuts then goes into some mild chocolate, dry coffee, and mild spice. Yeast comes in and tries to dry it out. Outstanding nose, but the flavor is a bit less than the aroma promises. For a brown, though, this is very nice.
