COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When one thinks refreshing and easy-drinking, look no further than that delectable beer produced in Cologne, Germany… and that is, of course, the light and flavorful Kölsch.
And when Blue Smoke, one of the pre-eminent BBQ restaurants in New York City, asks you to brew a beer exclusively for them… well, you can’t get the word “yes” out of your mouth fast enough.
Introducing our Kölsch that is available only at the 2 NYC Blue Smoke Restaurants and in our taproom. Kölsch is the ale version of Pilsner, which means it’s light, easy-drinking, and bursting with flavor. Made with all German hops and malt, the beautiful golden color and mild bitter finish of this Kölsch is reminiscent of the brews being made throughout Cologne.
So when you sit down to enjoy some of Blue Smoke’s finest BBQ offerings, we hope you order a Newburgh East Kölsch… a fine pairing indeed!

On draft at the brewery. Pours a clear light yellow color with a small white head. Aroma of grain, apples, yeast, and light citrus. Taste of sweet apples, grain, grass, and yeast.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with a medium to large white head that sticks around for a while. Sweet crisp grain on the nose, crackers and a little bit of malt. Medium-bodied, a bit sweet up front, crisp and grainy. Very gentle hop notes, into a slow gentle grapefruit tinged bitterness. Sweet and supple mouthfeel, super easy drinking. I could drink a few of these in the heat of the summer, but perhaps now we’ll have to settle for post driveway shoveling.
