We do love all things sessionable here in Newburgh… but, there’s a time & a place for all beers, including our new Belgian Strong Ale. Medium bodied & amber in color, the beer boasts lovely flavors & aromas produced by the Belgian Candy Sugar. The lingering finish is that of both spice & earthy qualities from our Belgian Ale Yeast. The formidable 10.2% ABV leaves you with a delightful sugary sweetness and warmth.
We call it “Sterk Aal van Hoodie”, which is Flemish for “Strong Ale of Hoodie”. And who is Hoodie, you might ask? Why, she’s our incredibly strong, utterly fearless, cunning and quick brewery cat. We honor Hoodie’s fearless determination in the face of mouse danger by naming our Strong Ale after her. We salute you, Hoodie.

Tap. Sampled this lovely brew at the brewery. Glad I enjoyed a small bit, a few ounces, as it is a high abv. Very syrupy smooth for a tap beer. Deep peach color, and foamy off-white head. Aroma was very estery, and the sugary notes are warm. Flavor was well blended in sugar, fruit, and malts. Bitter finish that lingers warm and soft. Very nice.

This little beer packs one hell of a wallop. This is most definitely a sipping beer. A full flavored beer.

On tap at the Newburgh Brewery. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Big chewy yeast, candy sugar, toasty malt. Sweet, big yeasty phenols. Not boozy at all, but there is a nice warming alcohol coming through, very smooth and toasty. Nice toast and warm yeast, long yeast filled finish with a gentle bitterness.
