Cask - The Kings Head, Norwich. Poured a clear golden amber with a small, bubbly & mostly fasing whie head. Quite a rich malt bill it would seem, coupled with the prominence of the alcohol - even at just 5.5% - giving it a bit too much sweet warmth that undermines the otherwise dryish grapefruit, lemon pith & marmalade hop character. Medium-ish body, softly spritzed on the palate with a lingering bittersweet finish.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Thick, syruppy sweet hops, which have a bitter start and aslightly warming orange fruit finish. Pretty good, but slight strength on the finish is not entirely to my taste.

Cask. At Market Porter, Borough. Hazy pale gold with an average white head. Very pungent grassy aroma, slightly fruity. Taste of mild grain and lemongrass, very fresh and decently bitter; refreshing. Sticky, astringent mouthfeel - crisp, nicely carbonated, and real quencher.

Half pint, cask version, of this well bodied ale served lightly chilled at The Dove Street Inn. Slightly cloudy, straw-golden body with only a few patches on the surface. Moderate aroma of mellow fruits. Well balanced flavour of malt, sweet pears and sappy oranges. Rounded bitter ending (Ipswich, 04.05.2008).

Cask (Gallow’s Bird, Espoo, Real Summer Ale Festival 2004)
Light gold, tiny head. Hoppy aroma. Taste however it dominated by alcohol. Yes there’s a simple bitter under that, but at 5.5% the alcohol should not be so prominant.

Cask @ 13th White Cliffs BF, Dover. 3 February, 2006 Blonde with hints of wheat in aroma. A bit harsh bitterness with that typical citrus and tropical fruits taste that is so common in these new golden ales.
