Cask, gravity, at The Pig íní Falcon, St Neots, Cambridgeshire, in the Pigís Winter Festival í11. Dark mahogany brown. Not much aroma, some burnt caramel perhaps. Delicious sweet malty taste with a fruity note of peach and grapefruit. Sharp bitter finish. Top notch.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask (Cambridge Blue, Cambridge)
6 Slight toffee aroma, some dark berries.
4 RIch deep red, brief head that settles to a ring.
6 Rich sweet malts, a touch sickly sweet.
4 Full and sticky, but otherwise soft palage and carbonation low. Rich smooth finish packed full of medium roasted grains and slightly husky bitterness.
13 Solid bitter, but a bit sticky.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask handpull at The Bull, Horton Kirby, Kent. Clear chestnut. Strong syrupy malt flavour, some hops on finish. Again, enormously good condition. An English strong ale I guess, the malts calm down as it opens up and the hop on the finish really comes through. A kind of stinging East Kent Goldings hop finish. Some very good stone fruit flavours with just the merest touch of choc malt. Itís a little hot, from the alcohol, some good malts and nice hop on end. Surprisingly good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The Wharf Inn, Welford. Dark honey amber with a dense snowy collar and loads of lace. Casky aroma with sweaty green citrus. Big dose of soapy grapefruit hopping, rich roasty malts, nuthusk. Soft and silky mouthfeel. Solid, moreish, pretty much technically perfect strong ale, and another good one from this brewer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at the King Billy, Nottingham. This dark beer has a sweet treacly aroma. The flavour has liquorice and spice with a long boozy finish.
