BlackHaddock (2432) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 8, 2012
Pub crawl around Wellington (Shropshire) 10th Feb 2012: pub number three had this on hand pull, so a pint was downed. Clear light golden colour: another beer that from a distance looked like a lager. Aroma was floral hop with hints of citrus sourness. The taste was also more hop than malt: OK but nothing special. Too many of this type of beer on the market at the moment. This one ticks all the boxes but does very little: Mr Average I’m afraid.

Cask, gravity, at Wellington Arms, Bedford, in ’4th’ Wellington Beer Festival ’10. This was under the name ’Blue Topaz’, but I strongly suspect it was this beer. Gold. Hoppy aroma. taste is more interesting than anticipated: grapefruit, flint and nettle lead into a mid bitter finish.

Cask (gravity) - Norwich Beer Festival 2010. Small bubbly white head & a pale, clear yellow body. Zesty lemon & orange profile. Crisp & slightly toasty on the tongue. Yup, it’s a decent golden. Nicely rounded in the mouth: soft mouthfeel, light body & a lingering hop bite.

Dark yellow colored with cloudy appearance. Little white head. Rich hopped and fruity aroma with nice flowers and lemon. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is also nice with floral hopped notes, peach and apple fruitiness here.

albertane (377) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - JUN 29, 2008
Cask at the King William IV, Nottingham. This pale gold ale has an earthy aroma. The flavour is very refreshing with grapefruit dominating. The finish is bitter. Kingston Topaz is nicely smooth on the palate.

DruncanVeasey (6179) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2008
UPDATED: MAY 17, 2009 Cask, Leicester Fest ’08 (Saturday afternoon session). Full-on grapefruity hop refreshment with lingering bready malt afters. Punishing IBUs dabbed with vanilla. Headless and pale. Leafy citrus aroma. Zesty and pleasant, if a bit tired. (636314-3.2) UPDATE Cask handpull, The Swan and Rushes, Leicester. Pale and creamy with a white slick and specks of lace. Dribble-making lychee, wring of sweaty hop, passion fruit and apricot aroma. Big juicy lychee with spoiling TCP beyond, some peach. Really not keen on the disinfectant-like note, but love the hops.

StueyD (823) - Heacham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JUL 28, 2006
A dark, golden orange coloured beer with a weak, white head. A light, citrusy hop nose with a malty finish. The taste is dry and hoppy, citrusy again, with a dry, biscuity malt finish. (Cask - @ The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).
