2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
330ml bottle picked up at Nina’s Mini Market. Shared with Scottish friends. Clear golden body. Low white head. Fresh grassy hops to the nose. Smooth malt-fruity taste. Discreet fruit bitter ending. Medium to thin bodied. Average for the style (Edinburgh 09.08.2013).

2.3 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12floz/355ml bottle into a shaker. Served cold.
Aroma: White bread. Paper.
Appearance: Crystal clear, bright yellow body with a very sparse white head.
Taste: Pretty strong malt balanced by hop bitterness.
Palate: Light-moderate body. Finish lasts a little bit and ends on bitterness.
Overall: I haven’t been crazy about any of Newcy’s seasonal offerings, but this one is quite preferable to the old Summer Ale, and a nice brew.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium to dark yellow.
Aroma is moderately malty (cracker, cookie, cereal, husks), lightly hoppy (stale flowers/herbs), with a note of metal.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, metallic.
Pretty typical Newcastle quality. Fairly metallic in both nose and aftertaste. Industrial and just barely drinkable.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap. Pours a clear gold body with a nice looking frothy one finger white head. The nose is kinda off to me, some pale doughy maltiness, some light fruitiness, then this weird white grape like note. The flavor is similar to the aroma, overly sweet with an odd white grape juice note on the finish. Minimal to no hops present. Lighter bodied, yet a touch clingy and sticky. Wouldn’t ever recommend this one.

Not a fan of Newcastles Brown Ale but thought this was much better, especially during a beautiful summer day.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Thin bodied Blonde Ale with minimal bitterness, grassy aroma. Easy drinker thanks to a basic recipe. While not a dud, Bombshell did not blow me away.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The usual Newcastle brown bottle, good label, good cap. Clear, light gold, thin white head. Aroma is a decent mod-UK pale ale aroma - a bit sweaty, the British hops dominate, and the Gemano-american hops are just there to make things interesting. Very light diacetyl. Lightly sweet, zippy, bright but non-aggressive hops. Pleasant bitter and dry citrus finish, medium to slightly light body. Decent summer brew. Thanks to PorterPounder for the informal trade.
