Brown color, smells slightly nutty. Sweet taste with a nutty taste as well as some notes of vinegar that I often detect in English ales. Overall, this is a great beer to drink if you need a session brew. Also, I won five game sin a row so maybe the beer helped.

That old blue stared label harkens back to a number of fond old memories, oh to be young. This was not "the" pinnacle of beer, but it was up there. Time passed, more beers were shared, and old Newcastle got left in the proverbial dust. Then I got married, found a corner liquor store with not a whole lot to offer, now and again a Newcastle did the trick, but it wasn’t meant to be... eventually I used it in cooking, pouring 12 oz of the bomber into a beer bread recipe, and drinking the rest while watching the bread rise. I took that recipe to the state fair where I was schooled by a whole host of elderly women. I had nothing to be ashamed of; it wasn’t my creativity that was the problem, but rather my skills as a baker. I moved on to other culinary curiosities and Newcastle was left behind with my consolation ribbon. Now I’m here sitting at my desk with what feels like an old friend... Let’s see how she stacks up. Pours a perfectly clear amber brown with a medium fizzy head that diminishes sort of quickly. Since I’ve paid attention to the aroma of beers I’ve always found this one less than great. Perhaps it’s spoilage from the clear bottle but it always smells a bit like a skunk, I also detect some sweet malty and some nutty notes. Flavor is as I’ve always remembered it, not as exciting as I used to think it was, but for a young man whose beer explorations included one or two pale lagers, Guinness, and Boulevard Wheat, the nutty, molasses, and tea like flavors, with just the mild "kiss" of hoppiness was enough to raise an eyebrow. This is a distinctive beer for what it is not bad, but not notably great. This indeed is what it is, I know I’ll drink it again, and maybe someday I’ll pay to drink it again. beerwolf77 (42), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Even though it’s like reviewing an old comfortable sweatshirt that you’ve had since college.
It pours a a chocolate amber brown with a faint wisp of head. The smell is malty and nutty yet a bit metalic. The flavor is similar to the aroma. Roast malt with a chocolate/coffee hint. Slight biscuit with a little bitter hop bite. This has a nice feel to it. Not chewy but substantial enough to feel robust.
This is a hands down winner for me in drinkabilty. I’ve settled down over a 12 pack of this and next thing you know I’ve got 12 empty bottles.

Pours a light brown with a medium falling head. Clean aroma of malts and very slight copper and nuts. Tastes kind of bland, but definitely great for a hot day. An alright brown ale, but not my first choice for a brown by a long shot. DeadGirl (207), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA

Not a crispy, fizzy beer like the distinction known of other particular macros- this one has body and a good balance of hops linger on the palatte with a hint of caramel notes. The only complaint I have is that it’s way too watery. Simply put, it’s drinkable and ok... for a macro. finol (486), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden

Pours dark amber with a nice head.
This is an OK beer, a bit to thin body makes it a bit watery.
