WVHouseofBeer (339), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 22, 2009 Pours a reddish-brown. Has a strong smell of malt. Very smooth with quite a bit of carbonation. Tastes like caramel and nuts. Nothing special, but it’s a decent beer, especially being that it’s mass produced. acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA May 18, 2009 One of the first luxury beers I got into, then thought it sucked becasuse sweet and flat is not my thing, resisted having one fo a while but enjoyed the last few I drank, maybe because I had so many so quickly, brown hue, tan head, mor carbionated then I remembered, like a really good Coors light as far a quality. Sweet and soemwhat malty? Aight zakkbironia (82), Athens, Greece May 17, 2009 Updated: May 18, 2009Good beer, nice aroma and flavor, poor palate but although a nice try! Made me a very good impression. Nice brown ale beer. GO GO Newcastle United! DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA May 17, 2009 A light brown pour with a hint of nuts and malt.Flavor was not as strong a brown ale that I like. Its a decent go to brew while out and about. EHGsean (28), Canada May 15, 2009 There’s a big difference between Newcastle in the can, versus Newcastle in the bottle. My recommendation: Buy both and see for yourself. The clear bottle does impart some off flavours and aroma to the beer if the merchant has not moved it fast enough, or travel and storage has been poor. Cans seem to provide greater flavour stability to the malt profile, and no oxidation occurs. JediMindTricks (240), Hampton, Virginia, USA May 14, 2009 A brown ale on the good end of the spectrum. It has a rich brown color and a nutty taste to it...it is what it is... zapprentice (309), East Setauket, New York, USA May 14, 2009 Awful beer, to me it really does not have any redeeming qualities. Not worth having again. Blaze312 (129), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA May 9, 2009 On tap. This beer was decent enough to drink because there weren’t any better options. Lightly tastes of hops, and malts. Goes down smooth. Decent, but nothing to write home about.
