Newcastle Brown Ale

Sweet and nutty and boring as hell. Well at least it isn’t offensive and tastes like something.

Nice color. nice aroma, a good dinner beer. I little price at $10 a 6 pack. Not really a big Ale fan but it’s in my top 10 or so.

500ml can. This is a dark amber brown colour with a half inch permanent head. There’s butter, toffee, molasses in the aroma. The mouthfeel is thin and a bit watery. I taste sweet toffee in the malt with a slight hop background. Starts sweet and leads to a short dry finish.

Not awful, a macro I have sometimes in some indian food restaurants in Downtown Montreal, because it is better than a Molson Ex (or a Cheetah)... There are some subtilities of sweetness and fruityness, but it is rather watery, a little less on tap though, and the bitterness is boringly discreet. In good conditions, with friends, on a warm sunny day, downtown, I’ll be happy with it. But in itself...

330 ml bottle. Clear nut-brown body with a small and diminishing off-white head. Nice aroma of caramel malt. Flavor is malt, caramel and moderate bitter. It has a rather one-dimensional flavor with a thin and watery body. Refreshing, but boring after one bottle. This was actually the first non-pilsner beer I fall in low with almost 30 years ago.

Bottle. Pours light brown with a small white head. Sweet malty aroma. Caramel taste, not too sweet, easy drinkable.
