ocbeergoddess (6), , California, USA does not count Feb 12, 2009 I’ve had newcastle many times, and this last time I was thoroughly disappointed. This brown ale had a skunky aroma and flavor, and I was really turned off. I am used to a dark brown ale with a slight sweetness to it, but this beer was so far from it! I Fred82 (343), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Feb 10, 2009 330ml bottle in New Castle glass. Pours pale amber. Nice head thst last about 1 minute. Lots of carbonation on the glass walls. Discrete aroma, some caramel, malt. A bit watery on the palate like some said, Hints of caramel in taste but not much. Ok beer. Would choose something else for the same price. Rating 18 100209 barleynhops (82), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Feb 5, 2009 Draught: Appeared to be a lighter shade of brown, hinting in amer with a thin tan head. Smells of malts and breads. Leaves the palate quenched and wanting more. A definite fine brew! rugbyprop87 (1), New Rochelle, New York, USA does not count Feb 5, 2009 Best served on a hot day at a cool, not cold tempature while watching a rugby match. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 5, 2009 Solid average beer. Brown color with a small head. Malty aroma. Nice nutty brown malt and a smooth finish. A little watery on the palate, but drinkable. Prone to skunkiness because of the clear bottle. Collint (450), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Feb 4, 2009 Bottle, pours a brown beer with a thin diminishing head. Flavor is sweet malty and great. Kinda on the watery weak side, but its a classic. This is a delicous treat, at a hefty price. Good with a brownie cblado (146), Wisconsin, USA Feb 2, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear orange-brown color, some slight head to it. Aroma is astringent, nutty. Flavor begins bitterly, but becomes a caramel malt eventually. Not bad. Not a lot to it. Overall a good session beer. JanLaursen (5), Hellerup, Denmark does not count Jan 30, 2009 Bland, uninteresting, nearly tasteless beer, but refreshing and a perfect match for a football match at a bar.
