12 oz bottle. Pours a clear, nutty brown with a small, off white head that has decent retention and minimal lacing. There is some definite skunking from the clear bottle. Skunking aside, there is a slightly sweet, sort of nutty aroma. It is a bit faint, could be bigger. Flavor is sweet and almost has hints of brown sugar, slightly nutty, with hints of caramel. Not the boldest of beer, but I can see why this is such a "transition" beer for so many people. It’s very approachable and easy, while having a bit of the "import" mystique to it. Not bad but there are WAY better browns out there.

Bottle. Pours a nutty brown, see through body with a very thin, beige, quickly disappearing head that leaves minimal lace. Not a lot to the aroma. Slightly nutty and sweet with a bit of a stale smell. Flavor is better than the aroma, but just okay. Flat tasting nutty sweet with a very light bitterness throughout. Light body and light on the malts. Pretty watery and a hint of a bitter linger. A little too fizzy and bubbly after an initial creamy body. Overall, blah.

Draft. Brown color with small head. Kind of sweet. It’s a good beer but far from top of the class.

An iconic beer! Pours to a light brown colour with a pale head, topping up keeps a nice head. Sweet aroma and a wonderful caramel flavour and dry finish.

Bottle - Brown in colour. Sterile and slightly metallic malty aroma with some very faint fruity hints. Sterile tasting with malt and a moderate bitterness. Bland.

Bottle at O’Donnells, A’dam. Another bitter ale. It has a bit of an eggy taste. Also nuts and coffee. I like brown ales but not much here to distinguish it.

Pours a nut brown with dimished white head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar and hoppy notes. Sweet malty flavour with mild bitterness.
